Join Paul as he takes on the toughest footrace on Earth, the Marathon des Sables. While training for the event, calves explode, tendons pop, knees disintegrate. The HOKA Hackney Half 2027 sold out of general entries just two days after this yearβs race, as demand for places in one of the UKβs most popular half marathons continues to grow.
Following four consecutive years of record-breaking sell-out times, organisers focused on introducing additional ticket access windows to give more people the opportunity to secure a place, with all standard entries priced the same.
Each release window sold out within minutes, underlining the scale of demand for the event, which saw a record 27,000 runners register in 2026 and raise more than Β£4 million for charity. Charity places are still available for 2027βs event.
Alongside general entries, HOKA Hackney Moves is significantly expanding its community allocation for 2027, with 1,750 places reserved for local residents and underrepresented groups. These entries are offered in partnership with community organisations across Hackney and beyond, and will remain at 2026 prices.
These partnerships are designed to ensure places reach those who benefit most, working with groups that support underrepresented communities and those based in Hackney. The event will also continue to deliver the HOKA Hackney Academy, providing free coaching, kit and training sessions for people new to running, alongside its wider community initiative, working with run clubs, groups and organisations across the area.
BADU, a community anchor organisation dedicated to reimagining opportunities and empowering underserved communities across London, has worked closely with the event in recent years, with more than 40 runners representing Team BADU this year.
Dr Nana Badu said: βExpanding community places like this makes a real difference. Through our work at Badu, we see first-hand how access to events like Hackney Moves can open up running to people who might not otherwise see it as for them. Creating more opportunities at a fair, consistent price, underpinned by a powerful and authentic community engagement strategy, helps ensure the start line better reflects the communities that give this event its energy.β
HOKA Hackney Moves returns from 14β16 May 2027 and will again deliver a weekend of running, fitness and music, including the free Community 5K, Schools Challenge and a two-day festival which attracted over 60,000 attendees in 2026.
Ian Allerton, Managing Director of Motiv Sports UK, said: βThe continued growth of Hackney Moves is something weβre incredibly proud of, and itβs a reflection of the community, energy and atmosphere that make it so special. Demand for places is higher than ever, so weβre always looking at ways to give as many people as possible the opportunity to be part of it.
βAt the same time, we remain committed to investing in the local community and making the event a welcoming and accessible space, whether thatβs through our community places, our free events across the weekend, or the work we do with local partners throughout the year.β
With general entries now sold out, runners can still take part in the 2027 event by securing a place through one of the official charity partners.

A brand new endurance event is coming to North Yorkshire this summer, as participants from across the UK prepare to take on the North Yorks Ultra Challenge for the very first time.
Taking place on 20β21 June 2026, the event will see thousands of walkers, joggers and runners head to Scarborough, which will act as the eventβs basecamp for a spectacular coastal and moorland challenge.
Participants can choose from distances ranging from 100km, 50km, 25km and 10 miles, following a stunning circular route that showcases some of North Yorkshireβs most iconic scenery.
Starting from Scarboroughβs seafront, the route heads north along the Cleveland Way, passing through Robin Hood Bay and on to the historic seaside town of Whitby, famous for its abbey and links to Captain Cook.
For those taking on the full 100km challenge, the second half heads inland through the Esk Valley and North York Moors, before looping back to Scarborough via forest trails and rolling countryside.
With options to complete the challenge solo or as part of a team, the event is open to all abilities, from seasoned ultra-endurance athletes to first-time challengers looking to push themselves further. Most participants walk the event, while some will run the full distance, and others mixing the two together.
As a brand-new addition to the Ultra Challenge Series, organisers are expecting strong interest, with the event set to bring a boost to local tourism and hospitality businesses across Scarborough, Whitby and surrounding coastal communities as participants and supporters travel into the region.
Participants will also be raising funds for a wide range of charities, with the event continuing to be a popular choice for fundraising efforts across the UK. Recent Ultra Challenge events have raised as much as Β£1.3million.
The organisers, Ultra Challenge, take great pride in ensuring the highest level of support for participants, with industry-leading rest stops, medical teams, and fully marked routes providing a safe and encouraging environment throughout the course.
With its mix of dramatic coastline, historic seaside towns and wild moorland, the North Yorks Ultra Challenge is set to become one of the standout new endurance events in the UK calendar.
