So pleased @daniellurie shares our appreciation and commitment to San Francisco’s iconic cable cars and supporting Union Square and the greater hospitality and tourism community. Thank you!
Even amidst an unprecedented budget deficit, some things are untouchable. SF’s cherished cable cars are integral to our history and attract visitors who fill hotels, restaurants, and bars. Our iconic cable cars play a role in our economic recovery, and they’re here to stay.

I’m grateful to hear that Ricky Pearsall has been released from the hospital. My thoughts are with him and his family, and I wish him a swift recovery.
Today, I visited Union Square to thank our @SFPD officers for their dedication to keeping our city safe every day. Thanks to their swift response to yesterday’s robbery involving Ricky Pearsall, an immediate arrest was made. This action sends a clear message: if you come to San Francisco to commit crimes, our officers will arrest you, and our District Attorney will hold you accountable.
While violent crime is down in our city, accountability is essential whenever someone becomes a victim—no matter the neighborhood or time of day.
Walking around Union Square today with Marisa Rodriguez from the Union Square Alliance, I spoke with workers and shoppers and was reminded of our city’s resilience and the pride people take in being part of our future. We remain committed to building a strong, vibrant, and safe San Francisco.
