Engagement Day energy was alive and well at Shepherd Village today!

Our team joined residents, staff, members of the Shepherd Village Board of Directors, and special guests MPP @Aris_Babikian and Patrick Li, representing MP @JeanYip3, to celebrate everything that makes this home special. We tasted (and voted on!) new menu ideas with residents, toured the Village Club, and stopped by the Butterfly mural to talk about the incredible dementia care happening there every day.

The Recreation team stole the show with engagement robots and VR headsets, bringing a whole new kind of fun to the day. And handing out certificates to residents and families for their years of caring for others was a moment that meant so much, simple as it was.

Thank you to Shepherd Village for the warm welcome, and to Sector Champion Wayne Haggarty from @Medline for celebrating with us.

This is exactly what LTC Community Engagement Day is all about.

It's also a reminder of just how much long-term care means to this province. The sector contributes $14.1 billion annually to Ontario's GDP and supports 180,000 jobs. Proof that caring for our seniors and building a strong economy go hand in hand.

Ice cream, art, and a whole lot of celebration at Cooksville Care Centre today!

Minister of Long-Term Care @NatKusendova joined OLTCA CEO @DLDunc416, @AdvantAgeOnt CEO @LisaLevin1 to officially open the home's new welcome centre (with an ice cream truck parked out front). It's a fitting addition for a day all about opening doors and welcoming the community in.

Residents also showed off their gallery from the Young at Heart painting program, and a few were presented with Engagement Certificates to round out the celebration.
