Proud to celebrate key milestones of the Canadian Dental Care Plan and announce new funding for the @UofTDentistry on behalf of Minister of Health Marjorie Michel.

In Ontario more than 2.3 million Canadians are covered under the CDCP and 1.4 million of them have already received care from practising providers.

As demand for oral health care grows, today through the Oral Health Access Fund — investing over $35M nationwide for 30 projects, including more than $9.2M for 7 projects right here in Ontario. 🪥

I was pleased to announce under this funding:

✅$1,670,000 for the new Dental Public Health Emergency Clinic which also provides training opportunities for students.

✅$740,000 to improve access to oral healthcare for CDCP members and attracting and retaining patients to the school's training dental clinic.

✅ $527,000 to develop a micro credential course for dental students and enhance access to dental care in rural and remote community dental clinics. 👩🏻‍⚕️

Thank you to the Dean and Vice Dean of U of T’s faculty of dentistry for taking me for a tour of their clinics and research labs. I was happy to meet with some students engaged in practicing their dental skills.

Congratulations for 150 years of teaching dental excellence. The students dental clinic will soon undergo a renovation. Innovative research work is being done at the labs by both professors and students.

Together, we’re strengthening access to quality, affordable oral health care for all.
