If it's not a religious event or an A-list Hip-hop Artist performing at a concert (well publicized), they're not showing up for any match o
Another angle to view it from again is the number of elderly football fans in Europe between the ages of 60-75+ who still devote time for the sport, how many of such age demography in Nigeria or other African Nations (maybe with exclusion of North African Nations) you will find in that large numbers committed to football like that.
All the records broken by Lionel Messi today:
Most FIFA World Cup finals goals by a football (soccer) player - 18
Most FIFA World Cup matches played in by an individual - 28
Most matches won by a player at the football (soccer) FIFA World Cup - 18
Most minutes played in the football (soccer) FIFA World Cup - 2,489
We are witnessing history.
I was on Midland FM (@radiokwaralive) this morning to discuss our achievements and progress in the Water, Sanitation and Irrigation sector in the state.
Some of these achievements include the recently completed and ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of water facilities in various areas such as Zambufu, Alapa, Agbeyangi, Otte, Budo-Egba, Oyun, Ajase-Ipo, Ijagbo, Omu-Aran, Gada-Woro etc.
Responding to some callers who demanded a 24-hour water supply in the state, I made it clear that the production of water is largely dependent on a constant electricity supply, which we have not yet achieved as a nation. However, in Kwara, we have adopted the modular and integrated water system, which is solar-powered and is currently being enjoyed in some communities. This is to ensure a regular supply of water and also reduce energy costs.
All of these efforts are also being complemented by our continued reticulation and expansion of pipeline networks across these communities, with recent projects completed in some areas of Jebba, Ajase-Ipo, Omu-Aran, Gada-Woro, and Ilorin.
I also shared our landmark 30-year Water, Sanitation and Investment Master Plan for the state, which was developed in partnership with the African Development Bank (@AfDB_Group).
ODF: Our baseline survey, carried out recently across all 193 wards in the state in partnership with @UNICEF_Nigeria, is another laudable initiative which has continued to guide us in the implementation of our WASH-related projects towards achieving our desired Open Defecation Free status in all LGAs of the state.
These investments have largely contributed to bringing water-related disease outbreaks, such as cholera, to the barest minimum over the years.
It is also important to emphasize that Kwara is the only state in Nigeria that has largely funded its ODF programmes on its own, with little or no external support, according to the National Clean Nigeria Campaign Office. This makes our modest achievements in this regard even more laudable.
On Irrigation: I spoke about the ongoing reconstruction and expansion of the Duku Lade Irrigation Scheme in Patigi LGA, covering about 3,000 hectares of farmland, which will enable our farmers to engage in year-round farming.
This irrigation project is being funded partly with the support of the World Bank under the Sustainable Power and Irrigation for Nigeria (SPIN) project, with the aim of improving food security in the state.
Although we may not have gotten to where we want to be as a state in the water sector, reflecting on where Kwara used to be before 2019, we are very proud of our modest achievements under the leadership of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, over the last few years.
Danladi’s Candidacy: Securing AbdulRazaq’s Legacy, Not a Dynasty
By Abdulmumin Yunusa Ndagara
When Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) addressed stakeholders at the Banquet Hall on December 23, 2025, he drew a definitive line in the sand regarding the future of Kwara State. "I am not interested in building a dynasty," the Governor declared to a resounding ovation, "I am interested in building a legacy."
As cabinet members reeled out the administration's monumental achievements since 2019—spanning infrastructure, healthcare, education, social investment, and civil service welfare—many stakeholders, including several gubernatorial aspirants, expressed sheer amazement at the scale of progress. However, for one man, these achievements were not news.
Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, stood out as the ultimate insider. As the head of the legislative arm since 2019, Danladi-Salihu hasn't just witnessed the AbdulRazaq revolution; he co-authored it.
The Architect of Continuity, Not a Dynasty
The distinction between a political dynasty and a governance legacy is critical. A dynasty relies on patronage and favoritism; a legacy is built on strong institutions, shared vision, and sustained progress. Danladi-Salihu’s candidacy is firmly rooted in the latter.
While other qualified aspirants may promise to study the Governor’s blueprint, Danladi-Salihu is already a part of its execution. As Speaker of both the 9th and 10th Assemblies, he has presided over the passage of progressive bills, rigorous oversight functions, and the allocation of state resources. He represents a seamless transition—the embodiment of institutional memory and consolidation.
Speaking recently at the anniversary session of the Tenth Legislature, Danladi-Salihu highlighted a robust legislative track record that directly anchors the Executive’s vision. Under his leadership, the tenth legislature has passed 23 Bills and considered 88 motions, including the landmark Kwara State Power Sector Bill.
“Our legislative interventions have touched critical sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, social welfare, and economic growth,” the Speaker stated.
Through a collaborative yet independent relationship with the Executive, the Assembly under Danladi-Salihu has proven that the O-to-ge movement was never just a political slogan, but a governance philosophy rooted in giving Kwarans the very best.
Beyond infrastructure and economic policy, Danladi-Salihu brings a sharp, localized focus to Kwara’s security architecture. He possesses the political will and grassroots intelligence required to tackle contemporary security challenges head-on.
Under his leadership, the Assembly has consistently tightened laws to punish bandits, cultists, and drug traffickers. His commitment is both legislative and logistical; one of his earliest constituency projects was the total renovation of the NSCDC office in his hometown of Gwanara, alongside continuous operational support to security agencies.
Addressing recent security breaches, the Speaker extended heartfelt condolences to affected communities in Edu, Patigi, Kaiama, Baruten, Ekiti, Isin, and Ifelodun LGAs, assuring citizens that the legislative and executive arms are actively rolling out fortified measures to restore absolute peace.
The emergence of Danladi-Salihu as the APC flagbearer is also a triumph for equity. By conceding the ticket to the Kwara North Senatorial District, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and Governor AbdulRazaq have demonstrated a profound commitment to justice and inclusivity.

See one of their agents. A whole SAN lying on TV on why he resigned as AGF. You can see he was ashamed when the anchor also said she heard why he resigned. They are only depending on peddling lies.
@noblemago This myopic thinking is why you have reduced the issue of insecurity to a mere regional concern.
For your information, Kwara State shares boundaries with Oyo State, and the forest reserve Igboho is referring to in that video spans Oyo, Kwara, and Niger States.
The truth some of you may not like to hear is that, the stunt being pulled by Sunday Igboho is very wrong in every sense. Even if his proposed security outfit is given the clearance to operate, It can't operate independently but under the strict supervision of the Police, DSS or the Military, and it MUST be on joint operations.
This is FALSE!
He's never written any book. It was Senator Sadiq Suleiman (representing Kwara North) who wrote a book titled "How I Became a Senator in 30days".
You see, we're not ready for this discussion. Making statements like this in public is all shades of wrong, especially coming from a prominent Islamic scholar who has once served in the Military.
Actions like this ones only embolden these criminal elements.

#WorldSickleCellAwarenessDay
Earlier today, I joined the First Lady of Kwara State, @firstladykwara, HE Amb. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, @amkmusty, at the sickle cell awareness walk organized by the Office of the First Lady in collaboration with the Pearl Sickle Cell Foundation.
The advocacy walk, aimed at commemorating the annual Sickle Cell awareness Day, also featured the unveiling of the ‘Hope Shelf’ pharmacy at the Foundation’s office. The pharmacy is designed to provide free drugs and other medical support to sickle cell warriors in the state.
As an advocate myself, I also extended support to the ‘Hope Shelf’ initiative as part of my commitment to the sickle cell community, with the aim of complementing the efforts of Her Excellency and the Pearl Sickle Cell Foundation in the state.
I have always been an advocate for sickle cell awareness and prevention. I understand the pain of those living with it, a condition they are not responsible for. About two years ago, I lost a sibling who lived with this condition and later passed away, as God wills.
As we mark #WorldSickleCellAwarenessDay today, I urge everyone to take genotype testing seriously before going far in their relationships. This is one of the best ways to prevent this condition from cutting short brilliant lives.
Stigmatization and discrimination against people living with sickle cell disease should be strongly discouraged at all levels of society.
