MBBS interns of Jammu & Kashmir are demanding justice and a fair stipend. Despite working day and night in hospitals, handling emergencies, wards, casualty, and patient care, *MBBS interns in J&K are still receiving only around ₹12,300 — one of the lowest stipends in India.*
*For the last 6 years, there has been no significant revision despite rising inflation and workload*. Intern doctors are the backbone of government hospitals and deserve dignity, respect, and a fair stipend.
This is not just an intern issue — it is the voice of all future healthcare professionals of J&K.
AIMSA seeks urgent intervention for enhancement of stipends for interns & resident doctors in J&K a long pending & genuine demand affecting young healthcare professionals.
We request the kind intervention of @OfficeOfLGJandK , @OmarAbdullah, and @sakinaitoo to address this issue at the earliest. @official_aimsa

#VIDEO || After 30-hour shifts, endless duties and years of hard work, we are surviving on Rs 12,300 a month while going through trauma every single day. We are not asking for charity — we are demanding our rights and dignity as healthcare workers,” an MBBS intern said in an emotional appeal to the Jammu and Kashmir government.
@CM_JnK@sakinaitoo
They study for years, sacrifice their youth, survive sleepless nights, handle emergencies, stand in OTs for hours and carry the burden of human lives on their shoulders, yet in Jammu & Kashmir, medical interns are still being paid just 12,300 per month. That's 410 rupees per day.
At a time when many other states pay their interns almost 2–3 times more, our young doctors are expected to work endlessly with little dignity and almost no financial support.
I have raised this issue multiple times before the authorities, but unfortunately, nothing changes except hollow assurances. A healthcare system cannot become strong by exploiting the very people holding it together.
Respect doctors. Respect interns. Raise the stipend.
Enough is enough. #JKMedicalInterns #RaiseInternStipend #HealthcareCrisis #JusticeForInterns
Every year interns demand a stipend hike, the answer : the file is under process, the file has been forwarded to the finance department and blah blah blah. It's been 7 years and still our stipend has not increased. Why this mockery with young doctors.
@OmarAbdullah@sakinaitoo
J&K MBBS interns are still forced to survive on just ₹12k while interns in other states receive ₹30k+ for the same workload.
We urge @OfficeOfLGJandK@OmarAbdullah@sakinaitoo to end this injustice immediately on a priority basis
Watch: Dr Momin says, "The stipend enhancement for MBBS and BDS intern doctors in our Jammu and Kashmir was about to happen, but the government there is continuously delaying and ignoring the file. You can see that states like Bihar have recently approved stipend enhancement for MBBS and BDS doctors..."

MBBS interns in Jammu & Kashmir are being paid just ₹12,300/month. That’s nearly ₹400 a day for handling emergencies, ICU duties, labour rooms, wards, night shifts, and brutal 24–36 hour duties.
One of the LOWEST intern stipends in India.
Meanwhile, states like Assam & West Bengal are paying ₹30,000+.
For 3 YEARS, promises of stipend hikes have been made. For 3 YEARS, nothing has changed.
The system wants young doctors to work like machines, survive on peanuts, and stay silent.
Cheap labour in the name of “training” is exploitation.
Pay MBBS interns what they deserve.

MBBS interns in Jammu and Kashmir are paid only Rs 12300 per month. Straight 36 hour duties. Endless nights and toil, blood and sweat.
It's time to raise the stipend of J&K MBBS interns.

This appeal is entirely on behalf of the students & is not influenced or supported by any political party or individual.
We respectfully request @OmarAbdullah & @sakinaitoo to kindly address this genuine issue on humanitarian and administrative grounds.

Please hear our genuine demand.
