Ian Solomon, dean of @UVABatten, announced Tuesday he will step down Aug. 2 to serve as the president and CEO of @RockBrosFund, an 85-year-old foundation established by the grandsons of John D. Rockefeller to “advance social change that contributes to a more just, sustainable and peaceful world.”

On Sunday, @UVASwimDive alumnus Gretchen Walsh set a world record in the 50-meter freestyle event at the Sette Colli Trophy in Rome. She bested the time of Kate Douglass, Walsh’s former UVA teammate, from eight days earlier.

Walsh’s time of 23.55 seconds is also an American record, marking the 100th American record a UVA swimmer has set in the last five years.
