HB267/SB357, amending the assault on a protected person statute by providing additional protections for those facing a mental health crisis, has passed. If signed by Governor Youngkin, this legislation will further protect individuals struggling with mental health crises.

SB 626 has passed the House Health and Human Services Committee unanimously. Barrier crime exceptions remove barriers for individuals with lived experience with mental health challenges to get involved in supporting others struggling with similar experiences.
