Volusia County Schools is proud to be recognized by the Florida Association for Career and Technical Education, with @SuptBalgobinVCS receiving the 2026 Superintendent of the Year award on behalf of the incredible work happening across our district. 👏🎉

This recognition reflects a shared vision and the dedication of countless teachers, school leaders, support staff, and district teams who have worked together to transform Career and Technical Education in Volusia County.

Over the past three years, Volusia County Schools has expanded @VCSCTE programs, academies, and pathways by 70%, growing from 164 to 279 opportunities for students. During that same time, industry certification attainment increased by 54%, giving more students the skills, credentials, and confidence to pursue high-skill, high-wage careers after graduation.

This honor belongs to the entire Volusia County Schools team. Together, we continue to expand opportunities, exceed expectations, and prepare every student for success beyond the classroom.

➡️IMPORTANT A-NNOUNCEMENT

We’re thrilled to share that, for the second year in a row, VCS is an “A” rated district!

This is the result of a true team effort.

Our students, teachers, staff, and families are the heart of this success, demonstrating every day what can be accomplished through hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence.

We're also grateful for the support of our School Board members, VCS Partners in Education, elected officials, community organizations, and volunteers who help strengthen our schools and support student achievement.

An accomplishment such as this takes an entire community working together, and that’s exactly what Volusia County does best.

The @educationfl has released the 2026 spring assessment results, which show continued growth for VCS across subjects spanning English language arts, math, science, and social studies.

"We are incredibly proud of the progress our students have made. These improved FAST reading and math scores, along with gains in science and end-of-course exams, are more than numbers to us. They represent real children growing in confidence, real classrooms filled with curiosity, and real educators pouring their hearts into teaching every single day," @suptbalgobinvcs said. "Our students, teachers, and staff worked extremely hard for these results, and our families, Volusia County School Board members, and community stood right beside them. In Volusia County Schools, we believe in the power of collective effort, and today’s data shows that belief in action. We will continue building on this momentum so every child in our district has the opportunity to thrive academically and beyond."

Families can now view student reports and resources through the state's website or school portal.

Creekside Middle School is setting the standard as an @@AVID4College National Demonstration School by welcoming educators from across the country to see impactful strategies in action.

📊 87.2% of 6th graders improved in math
🎓 93% of 8th grade AVID students are taking high school-level math

A powerful investment in literacy just landed at Beachside Elementary 📚

Thanks to the generosity of Daytona Beach City Commissioner Ken Strickland, Family Health Source, and the Kiwanis Club, students now have access to a brand-new book vending machine, creating new opportunities for young readers.

Early literacy is about more than learning to read. It builds confidence, expands opportunity, and shapes future success.  This initiative brings that to life by giving students the chance to choose and keep their own books, making reading personal, exciting, and empowering.

This is what strong community partnership looks like. Real impact, real opportunity, and real support for our students. Thank you for helping us put books into the hands and futures of young readers.
