In the early hours in Bengaluru, 34-year-old Venkataraman woke with severe chest pain, prompting his wife Roopa to rush him on a scooter to a nearby private hospital.

They were allegedly turned away as no doctor was available. She took him to another private hospital where an ECG confirmed a heart attack, yet no emergency treatment was given and no ambulance arranged; instead, they were advised to go to Jayadeva Hospital.

With no alternative, Roopa again set off on the scooter. En route, Venkataraman suffered intense pain, the scooter lost balance, and both fell. Despite being injured herself, Roopa pleaded with passing motorists for help, but most ignored her as her husband lay gasping for breath. By the time he was taken to a hospital, he had lost consciousness and was declared brought dead.

Systemic failure and public indifference did not kill the humanity within Roopa, and she donated her husband’s eyes, later saying that timely medical care, or even basic help from passersby, could have saved his life. Venkataraman and Roopa were ordinary, law-abiding citizens who must have paid taxes on time, yet when a time-critical emergency struck, they had no immediate care.

Heart attacks are among the most common causes of sudden death in India, yet timely intervention remains a matter of luck. Why can’t the govt establish small coronary care units every 4–5 km, equipped with ECGs, defibrillators, oxygen, and essential drugs? These units wouldn’t need full-time doctors, trained paramedical staff, supported by protocols and telemedicine, could deliver lifesaving care in the crucial first minutes at modest cost and enormous impact.

Film opens with a masked villain destroying some Indian asset somewhere and challenging the Indian govt, saying he is coming for them.

Next scene: IB, RAW, and ministers are having a round-table meeting about the villain while his 4K images play on the monitor. The intel chief clears his throat and reveals the shocking truth: the villain is ex-RAW, once India’s finest, now enemy No. 1 because he didn't get promotion on time.

Minister, sweating dramatically: “Ab kya? Kaise rokenge isko?” Everyone looks at each other helplessly. The intel chief removes his glasses and whispers, “Sir… is kaam ko sirf ek aadmi kar sakta hai.”

Cue 45-second monologue praising the hero as the background score swells. Slo-mo entry of the hero, dust flying, camera circling, national flag reflecting in his sunglasses.

Hero ki help ke liye jayegi Special Agent Sofia. Kyu? Abhi to aapne kaha tha ye kaam woh akela kar sakta hai. Haan, lekin Sofia ka figure achha hai. Action scenes ke beech me gaane-waane honge, aur unme woh bikini pehen kar ghoomegi. Lekin yaar? Apni agent bikini? Koi naa, aap tension naa lo. Sofia ko ISI agent bana denge jo hero ki help karegi. Then comes the mission. Cat-and-mouse game. Action scenes, beech me item songs, slow-motion explosions, unnecessary bike chases, and the villain saying “You don’t know who I am!” every 20 minutes.

Then the villain kills the hero’s sidekick, Altaf. Altaf's family would have been a victim of the 2002 riots, but he chose to fight for his country. He’ll die after giving a 10-minute monologue about country over religion. The hero is sad, then angry. It’s revenge time. Background score intensifies.

Again cat and mouse. Hero gets shot but still fights 20 men while bleeding. He is about to lose. Enter Pathaan, or Tiger, or Chhota Tiger, or Kabir or (Skoda) Laura Lehsun for a cameo who save the hero. Hero wins. Villain dies, or escapes with a scar for the sequel, or has a change of heart and sacrifices himself “for the nation.”

Hero and heroine hug. Hero salutes the flags of both countries. End credits roll. Anupama Chopra is sitting in the theatre crying. Hrithik tweets that this is responsible filmmaking. Radhika Apte says ab is desh me bachha paida karna surakshit hai. Jai Hind.

His wife hired a private medical examiner, who found only minimal bleeding; not enough to cause severe damage, and the brain stem was neither dead nor decomposed.
While in the ICU, Jay was kept heavily sedated and paralyzed every day with:
• Fentanyl (to suppress brain activity and breathing so he would remain dependent on the ventilator)
• Propofol (to keep him in an induced coma so he couldn’t wake up)
• Nimbex (a paralytic so he couldn’t move)
His wife went on to create a Facebook awareness group called The Right to Fight 💙 where she shares stories of brain-death survivors, victims, and whistleblowers every day.
