I started editing at the age of 12. It began when I hooked up two VCR tape decks together and cut a short film. That day I became a film editor. Today...11 feature films and many years later...is another very humbling and special day.
Thank you @ACEFilmEditors.
The Acton Lane Power Station in West London was used for these interiors of Axis Chemicals in BATMAN (1989).
It was also used for the Egg Chamber in ALIEN (1979) and the Atmosphere Processing station + the Alien Hive in ALIENS (1986).
One location. A legendary cinematic lineage.
I demand a remake of this Disney classic!
The only film in cinema history with:
• a giant blimp in the Arctic
• a hidden volcanic valley
• a lost colony of Vikings
• film score by Maurice Jarre
• a battle with killer whales
• pre-Temple of Doom tunnel/water stunt
🐍RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK🐍
Storyboard to Film Comparison of the climactic "opening the Ark of the Covenant" scene.
Artist Ed Verreaux drew 45 storyboards for Spielberg that were shared with all the department heads.
During filming, the storyboards were on set, printed on big poster boards, per Spielberg's request.
Anyone else grow up listening to vinyl story record albums? I wore this one out! 49-minute abridged version of Star Wars with dialogue, sound effects and narration. Any other good ones for my library?
I miss Tony. He was so exciting to work with -- always inventive and thrilled to be making a movie. The energy around him was electric. He was generous and collaborative. There's no other filmmaker like him.
Tony Scott directing 9-year-old Dakota Fanning behind the scenes of MAN ON FIRE. The gentleness, trust and emotional focus they share is incredible. "Damn, you break my heart." Wow.

The Mr. DNA exposition scene is Spielberg’s first hand-drawn cartoon sequence in a feature film he directed. Kurtz and Friends Animation created the old-school educational style cartoon. Spielberg asked for no changes to the storyboards, pencil tests or the final animation!🦕

So fucking cool. The wonder of seeing older tech and thinking “there’s still something cool and unique that we can do with this” and the camera was almost a century old!! Fucking awesome stuff, and this is the kind of thing that aye-eye schlubs think they can replace. Lmfao.
MAN ON FIRE (2004)
Tony Scott utilized an old hand-cranked film camera built in 1910 to make movie magic. No CGI needed.
DP Paul Cameron built a "merry-go-round" rig that spun Denzel Washington and the camera 360 degrees to create a hyper-kinetic visual effect.
