The roads around the B.C. Legislature grounds have reopened to traffic following the David Foster & Friends Concert, except the 500 block of Belleville Street.

It will remain closed into Sunday, August 9.

The Victoria Police Department is advising that temporary road closures will be in place causing traffic disruptions around Victoria’s inner harbour for the David Foster and Friends Concert, which is part of the David Foster Foundation’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand how frustrating the traffic congestion was following the event, particularly for residents trying to enter or leave James Bay.

Unfortunately, VicPD does not have enough dedicated traffic resources to staff every intersection affected by an event of this size. James Bay is also a geographically challenging area, with limited routes in and out, and the volume of vehicles and pedestrians significantly exceeded what the regular traffic signals could efficiently accommodate.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are taking to the skies today, Victoria!

Thousands of spectators are expected in the area, so please plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling.

The following roads will be closed from 3:00 p.m. until approximately 6:00 p.m., or until it is safe to reopen:

🔘Cook Street: May Street to Dallas Road

🔘Douglas Street: Simcoe Street to Dallas Road

🔘Memorial Crescent: Fairfield Street to Dallas Road

Please follow posted signage and the directions of officers and traffic-control personnel.

We encourage everyone attending to arrive early, travel safely and be prepared for increased traffic and limited parking.

The annual event attracts up to 30,000 spectators, and significant traffic delays are expected before and after the air show.

Please remember: VicPD will never call you to request your banking information, passwords, PINs or payment.

Scammers can manipulate caller ID so a call appears to come from a legitimate telephone number. Seeing VicPD’s non-emergency number on your screen does not necessarily mean the call is from VicPD.

If you receive a suspicious call:
- Do not provide personal or financial information.
- Do not send money or purchase gift cards.
- Hang up immediately.
- Contact your financial institution directly using a trusted number if you believe your information may be at risk.
- Report suspected fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and your local police.

Please share this information, particularly with family members or others who may be vulnerable to these scams.
