A five-member delegation of Sri Lanka’s Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), led by General Secretary Tilvin Silva, called on BJP National President Shri @NitinNabin at BJP Headquarters, New Delhi.

The leaders discussed India-Sri Lanka’s deep civilisational and cultural ties, including their shared Buddhist heritage, and exchanged views on governance, welfare, women and youth empowerment, sports and public participation.

Shri Nabin briefed the delegation on the BJP’s organisational journey, grassroots network, Antyodaya philosophy and the #SevaSankalpAbhiyan, while highlighting the role of women and youth in nation-building.

As part of the ‘KNOW BJP’ initiative, I was glad to meet the five-member JVP delegation from Sri Lanka, led by General Secretary Mr. Tilvin Silva.

We had a meaningful exchange on the BJP’s organisational journey, its grassroots connect, and Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji’s emphasis on empowering women and youth through skilling, entrepreneurship, innovation and greater participation in nation-building.

The delegation shared its experiences and welfare initiatives for women and youth in Sri Lanka. We also discussed sports, particularly cricket, as a strong people-to-people bridge between our two countries.

I also invited the delegation to visit Bihar during their next visit to India, a state with deep Buddhist and civilisational ties to Sri Lanka. I look forward to continued exchanges between our two parties.
