Again, I’ll stress, they’re both fantastic, but it also feels necessary to point out that Black Phone 2 feels like the Madeleine McGraw show and, oh my, does she soar with that responsibility. She had some scene stealing moments in the first film but there’s a whole lot more in this one. Gwen’s situation is a lot to shoulder between her dreams, her concern for Finney, and her own blend of fear and determination, and she does it all beautifully.
