Tonight, The Blackpool Tower lights up in red, gold, green and blue colours to mark Windrush Day.
Windrush Day honours the British Caribbean community, and the half a million people who travelled to the UK after the Second World War.
The day is designed to thank all those who arrived on Empire Windrush (known as the Windrush Generation), and their descendants, for the contributions they made to Britain during its recovery from the Second World War and have continued to make ever since.
Blackpool’s Armed Forces Week started today with a flag-raising ceremony at the Town Hall.
This week, we say thank you and honour the nation’s military personnel - past, present and future.

We have some absolutely massive news to share! Laci Endresz, best known to millions as the legendary Mooky the Clown, has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to entertainment.
For 27 years straight, Laci has been the face of the Tower Circus. He headlines over 350 shows a year and hasn't missed a single one🎪
On top of performing, he writes and directs the entire production and even builds the props behind the scenes.
Laci said: "Over the last three decades, I’ve had the honour of entertaining millions of visitors to The Blackpool Tower Circus. It isn’t a job to me; it is my passion and calling in life."
So many of us have grown up watching him perform and it’s wonderful to see his hard work and dedication officially recognised.
Massive congratulations, Laci! Thank you for keeping Blackpool laughing for all these years ❤️
Have you spotted the massive new addition to South Shore yet?
Titled “Within Ya Grasp,” this incredible gable-end mural on Station Road marks the launch of The Big HeArt Project Blackpool, led by The Butterfly Effected CIC.
Funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and Blackpool Council’s Pride of Place initiative, this is the pilot for a wider vision to bring more than ten large-scale murals to neighbourhoods across the town.
Created by artists Hayley Garner (AYLO) and Christian Fenn (SECA), the artwork is a brilliant nod to our seaside heritage, featuring symbols like Blackpool Rock, trams, football and the South Pier sign.
More than just art, the claw serves as a metaphor for hope, opportunity and resilience, celebrating our local identity and giving everyone another fantastic reason to explore South Shore.

Big news for Blackpool’s historic colonnades! 🌊
If you’ve ever enjoyed a stroll along our North Promenade, you know just how special the Grade II listed colonnades are.
Stretching nearly a kilometre between the Metropole Hotel and Gynn Square, these tiered structures (built between 1910 and 1925) are an important part of our seafront heritage.
But at over 100 years old, they need some TLC.
A formal bid is now being submitted to the Department for Transport’s Structures Fund to secure up to £31.5m for a full, like-for-like historic restoration. Because the total project will cost around £35m, over ten times the usual local annual highways budget, this national funding is the vital key to protecting them for the future.
Right now, thanks to recent safety repairs, three of the five entrances are open for your coastal walks. The big goal? If the funding is approved, the plan is to have all three sections (Princess Parade, Middle Walk, and Lower Walk) beautifully restored by 2030.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach has announced that the Grand National will re-open this Saturday🎢
The twin-track rollercoaster is set to race around its tracks for the first time this season on 13 June , having been closed since the beginning of the season due to a period of planned works.
First opened in 1935, the 91-year-old ride is one of only two Möbius loop rollercoasters in the world.
