I am deeply saddened to learn there are no survivors from the Broad Peak avalanche.

Here is what I know. No one climbs a mountain wanting, expecting or deserving to die. Yet every climber knows death is a possibility and has made peace with that risk.

These individuals lost their lives doing something they loved.

Be kind. Never share (or delete if you have) personal information like passport numbers. If your faith permits, pray for their souls. 🙏

Red cards aside ⚽️ 😉, a common complaint about the US is its currency. Why are all the denominations the same size and colour? How can you tell which is which? 🧐

The USD has changed over time, in specific regions, for specific circumstances. Let’s look at four bills from my latest art project. The first has a green treasury seal and is today’s legal tender. Just an ordinary one dollar bill.

The blue treasury seal is different. These bills were redeemable for “one dollar in silver payable to the bearer on demand” a program in place from 1934 until 1968.

The yellow treasury seal was issued during WWII for military use in North Africa. Its purpose was to allow for immediate devaluation if captured by enemy forces.

The red treasury seal was also issued during WWII. These were sent to Hawaii after the bombing of pearl harbor and allowed the US to ‘cancel’ these bills should Japan take control of the island.

So now you know - same size; yet different colors for different reasons.
