I will get to the bottom of this matter but just to be clear
- Safety will always be a top priority
- We do not favor foul language used
- Boxers are the most important part of our sport .
I will personally make a report once all facts are known and confirmed @WBCBoxing
‼️ Controversy in Uzbekistan: Robeisy Ramirez Alleges Irregularities After Fight Cancellation
The highly anticipated return of two-time Olympic gold medalist and former world champion Robeisy Ramirez will not take place this Friday at Humo Arena in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, after his scheduled bout was cancelled amid controversy surrounding pre-fight medical testing.
Ramirez, who has been out of action for more than 17 months and is now training under renowned Mexican coach Robert Garcia, took to social media to publicly denounce the situation and question the handling of his medical clearance by event organizers.
According to the Cuban boxer, representatives of Raiz Boxing and officials associated with the World Boxing Council (WBC) informed him that it was not possible to conduct an MRI on the day of the fight and that the results would take approximately three days to become available. However, Ramirez stated that he was able to undergo the MRI and receive the results within hours.
The Cuban fighter posted the following message on social media:
“The alleged promoter, @raizdboxing, with the backing of @wbcboxing, said it was not possible for me to get an MRI today and that the results would take three days to come back. The MRI is clearly dated today, May 29, 2026, at 5:37 PM — performed and delivered on the very same day, just hours before my fight. I have the test results in my hands. I am ready to fight. I have a great deal of respect for Mauricio Suleiman But what happens in these parts of the world deserves to be investigated.
THAT’S IT, FAMILY. THE FIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELED BECAUSE OF THESE MOTHERF***ERS WHO DON’T RESPECT FIGHTERS.”
The cancellation is a significant setback for the Cuban star, who was expected to begin a new chapter in his professional career after more than a year away from competition. His return had generated considerable interest among Cuban and international boxing fans, particularly following his move to Robert Garcia's training team.
