WCK immediately prepares & serves fresh, nourishing meals to communities impacted by natural disasters and during humanitarian crises. #ChefsForTheWorld
For families in Gaza, WCK bread deliveries are more than food—they’re reliable access to a comforting cultural staple. That’s why the teams at our mobile bakeries produce hundreds of thousands of fresh loaves of bread every day. Since the beginning of our response, we have distributed nearly 100 million loaves of bread to displaced families as access has become more and more difficult. The demand for bread is growing across Gaza, and our bakeries are a critical part of our efforts to support Palestinian communities in need. #ChefsForGaza
When Mount Mayon erupted in the Philippines last month, WCK teams had already built a robust network of community members—we had been in the country 3 times in the previous 7 months. With the support of these incredible partners, our teams served meals and, most importantly, smiles, to families impacted by the ashfall and ongoing danger from the eruption. Wherever we are in the world, we know that the WCK community will show up for its neighbors in need. #ChefsForPhilippines
Where YOU helped make a difference this week.
No matter where WCK teams are working across the world, our goal stays the same—serve nourishing, comforting meals to families impacted by disaster. (1/2)
When 95-year-old Adel (blue shirt) arrived to Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine after evacuating from Zaporizhzhia, one of her first questions was: “Where is the garden here?” With the support of WCK's #ChefsForUkraine seed kits, Adel can pursue her passion for growing food this year, even after being forced to leave her hometown.
Last year, she tended to marigolds outside the care facility she stays at. This year, she spends plenty of time in the facility's greenhouse, tending to dill, radishes, and other vegetables and herbs that the staff can soon use to cook delicious meals for its residents. For people like Adel, the familiar rhythm of gardening means the ability to foster life in one's own hands, providing comfort even before a meal begins cooking. WCK's seed kits are designed to help families do just that: provide comfort, promote tradition, and create new beginnings.
When hungry people need meals, every second counts—and sometimes small changes make the biggest difference. That’s why WCK’s #ChefsForGaza team is using a new onion slicer in the kitchen, which allows the prep team to slice one kilogram of onions in seven seconds instead of the two minutes it usually takes by hand. This means our chefs can get more hot, comforting meals to families in need as quickly as possible—when they matter most.
In Ukraine, many families have long kept home gardens—harvesting fresh produce every year as a cornerstone of daily life. But after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, maintaining those gardens became nearly impossible for thousands of families. That's how WCK's seed kits were born. Just one year after WCK and @HASHaiti began cooking for Haitian families impacted by violence, our teams on the ground have served their 10 millionth meal. Our 100% local WCK and HAS teams are committed to serving Haitians with dignity, care, and meals they love as they navigate this difficult time. Read more: https://t.co/w0bI3bxJG8 #ChefsForHaiti
One year after lighting the first stove, WCK and HAS Haiti have served more than ten million meals across the Artibonite region—even as displacement reaches levels not seen since the 2010 earthquake. 10 million meals didn’t happen by accident. It happened because hundreds of local team members arrive before dawn every day to light fires, sort rice and beans, chop vegetables, and cook for their neighbors. Working alongside local farmers and producers, we’ve prepared tens of thousands of hot meals every day—meals that taste familiar, bring comfort, and remind people that they are not alone. Today is the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. We wish we did not need a day like this. We do.
Every day, children living through conflict wake up without the things every child deserves—safety, school, a meal, the ability to just be a kid. Instead, they are dodging airstrikes, fleeing homes, losing parents, and going hungry. Not as a consequence of war. As a target of it.
That is what WCK teams see on the ground every single day. In Gaza. In Ukraine. In Lebanon. In the DRC. In Haiti. We are there. And in every one of these places, it is the children who carry the heaviest weight.
We show up because every child caught in the middle of conflict deserves to know that somebody, somewhere, has not forgotten them. That is why we cook. That is why we keep going.

Chef Nasser first worked with WCK in 2024, serving meals in his hometown of Kounine in southern Lebanon for families displaced by escalating attacks. Now, he’s standing alongside families in Mar Elias in Beirut as they navigate uncertainty and displacement and supporting them with comforting, familiar meals. Through every plate, Chef Nasser and his team are offering more than food—they are offering dignity, relief, and hope. #ChefsForMidEast

After large-scale Russian attacks in several regions of Ukraine on Monday night, WCK teams were on the ground across the country to provide immediate support in impacted communities. At all locations, our goal was simple: serving nourishing, comforting meals to people in need.
📍 Kyiv: The capital city was one of the hardest-hit during these attacks. Dozens of people were injured and at least six people were killed, and residential buildings and local infrastructure were severely damaged. Our teams served hot meals for residents and first responders working on recovery efforts.
📍 Dnipro: Many residential areas were damaged during the overnight attacks. We worked alongside local partner Smakolyk to distribute sandwiches, water, and hot drinks in the community. While we were in Dnipro, there was another aerial attack that our teams safely sheltered from.
📍 Sumy: WCK supported emergency response teams leading recovery efforts as well as impacted residents after attacks in Sumy.

In Gaza, keeping beloved traditions alive has become more difficult than ever—but WCK is finding a way. At the Azem Community Kitchen in Mawasi, we prepared a special Eid al-Adha meal of kebabs cooked over charcoal for children in the community. Honoring these joyful traditions helps families hold onto a sense of normalcy in the midst of so much uncertainty. Teams at WCK kitchens across Gaza work to find ways to bring moments of celebration, happiness, and hope like this to their neighbors every day. #ChefsForGaza
Overnight, 33 missiles and 33 drones struck Kyiv, Ukraine. At least 4 killed. 64 injured. 41,000 people sheltered in the metro—including 4,500 children.
WCK teams are on the ground now, serving meals to residents and first responders at the hardest-hit sites. #ChefsForUkraine
2 million meals. 3 months. 1.3 million displaced people.
WCK's 13 kitchens across Lebanon are among the few large-scale food relief systems still operating in the country. "Two million meals is not a celebration. It is a measure of a crisis." – Chef Aline Kamakian

In Garden Grove, CA, and everywhere else WCK works, community shows up for community.
The leadership, compassion, and deep community connections that local leaders bring to relief efforts are vital in making sure families get the support they need. Despite often being directly impacted by the disaster themselves, they step up to help feed their neighbors. WCK worked alongside community members like Margarita, Maria, Levi, and Julie in Garden Grove to make sure families affected by the chemical hazard had access to nourishing meals. #ChefsForCalifornia
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, banana leaves are a cornerstone of cooking. Wrapping foods like fish or meat in the leaves before steaming—a beloved dish known as liboke—seals in flavor and infuses the food with a subtle, earthy taste. Preparing liboke is no small undertaking, but on special days, the team at Panzi Hospital's community kitchen rises to the occasion to honor the many cultures and regions represented among those receiving care. This liboke was prepared in honor of patients from Équateur Province, where the dish originates.
It is exactly this kind of care and attention that defines WCK's and Panzi's approach: making sure that every person we serve feels seen, nourished, and connected to the food they know and love.
At Panzi Hospital in South Kivu, WCK is supporting a community-led kitchen program where local cooks are preparing traditional Congolese meals for patients and hospital staff using the same methods and flavors their communities have always known. Because when you’re healing, familiar food cooked the right way is an important ingredient of patient care. #ChefsForDRC
