@Austen AFAIK the original Square (then called Squirrel) stack was Python, built on Google App Engine (yes - proto-cloud!), with @jack contributing code.
Original API was even taking (but erroring) requests as recently as 2014 (Square founded 2009): https://t.co/2B9E1jDt5m
@Rich_Harris@united Neither @OTGexp (who operates the card reader) nor @United charge for electricity at @EWRairport. I used such a plug for free this week!
The card reader is for purchases made at the adjacent PLAY/DRINK/EAT iPads, which are annoying in their own way [+ cropped out of orig pic].
@wesyang The problem is that different uses of laptop consume wildly different amounts of power. You should be shaming power-draining apps+websites. Not shaming laptop manufacturers.
@jeeyoungk Same. My theory here: 1) I use them just too infrequently to retain + 2) I rely too much on copy/paste/cmd history when I do use them.
Good use case for @exec_prog, which schedules review of basic lang concepts for when it thinks you’ll forget them. (Your langs not yet avail.)
@gokulr In capitalist Hong Kong Feb 15, I saw retailers selling hand sanitizer at ~3x markup (80 HKD/10.50 USD for 250 mL).
Box of masks also available for 32 USD.
It was drawing curious crowds because nowhere else had the stuff in stock.
#SupplyAndDemand
Employers are legally required to create a workplace free from harassment and discrimination.
But what about VCs? Independent contractees?
@ginnyfahs argues the law needs to expand to these non-traditional models + in the meantime pushes VCs to share policies via #MovingForward
The fight for entrepreneurs opens the door for any worker who doesn’t fit traditional employment models to be protected from harassment and discrimination.
It's time to start #MovingForward

Uber lead trial council González: “Your honor, want to disclose Uber SSG did engage in a practice known as ‘reverse engineering.’ Won’t burden you with the details because I don’t understand them myself. Apparently another technical term is ‘API scraping.’” [quotations rough]
4)Must Waymo prove unjust enrichment?Or enough to prove trade secrets acquired? Allsup intuition: acquisition enough for injunction but not damages, but invites arguments citing decision by judge/commentary by state legislature.CACI (California Civil Jury Instructions) not enough
3)Disclosure by Arturo González (Uber lead trial council) that he+6 other MOFO partners were forwarded Jacobs’ non-37pg resignation letter, though he claims not to recall/have seen it. Chuck Duross/Stacey Sprenkel (also MOFO) may have seen Jacobs’ 37pg demand letter then (April!)
2) Was Uber witholding evidence by not handing over Jacobs’ 37-pager? They claim it was outside of agreed upon params (keywords, doc “custodians,” etc.). “Special Master” Cooper, a distinguished-looking neutral party appointed by Judge Allsup, will decide. https://t.co/OXxYd384xW
Main developments: 1)Uber contends that Waymo is hypocritical for calling out Uber’s use of ephemeral messaging when Google uses GChat/Hangouts OTR mode, and Uber wants to question ex-Googlers now at Uber about Google policy, to support this point. Waymo objects, Allsup overrules
@kateconger I understood that Chuck Duross (MOFO DC) and Stacey Sprenkel (MOFO SF) had Jacobs’ 37pg demand letter in April, but I may have misheard. Separately, D. forwarded Jacobs’ non-37pg resignation letter to 7 partners at firm, including Arturo González (MOFO, Uber lead trial council)
