We envision an inclusive and just society where women and girls are enabled to use Information Communications Technologies (ICTs) for sustainable development.
A friend request can seem harmless, but sometimes it’s the first step in a dangerous scam.
Online perpetrators often build trust through constant messages, compliments, and attention before manipulating their victims into sharing private content.
Stay alert. Verify who you’re talking to. Protect your privacy.
🚫 Don’t share intimate photos or videos online
🚫 Don’t trust strangers simply because they seem kind
🚫 Report suspicious accounts
Together, we can create a safer digital space for everyone

“Just send the money and it will end.”
That’s one of the biggest lies sextortionists tell.
Many victims experience repeated threats for days, weeks, or even months after making payments. Paying rarely guarantees the abuse will stop.

🚨 The Attention Trap is REAL!
It often starts with compliments, attention, and promises of affection. But what seems like harmless online admiration can quickly become manipulation and pressure to share personal photos.
Sextortion thrives on trust, emotional manipulation, and secrecy.
Stay alert, protect your privacy, and think twice before sharing intimate content online.
🚩If someone pressures you to send photos, that’s a red flag, not proof of love.

Following the gender training, participants in Oyam District took part in an ICT skills training designed to equip them with the knowledge and confidence needed to safely navigate the digital world.
The training covered online safety and digital security, practical computer skills, and internet navigation.
Participants gained hands-on experience using digital tools and learned how to protect themselves from online risks while accessing information, services, and opportunities online.
As Oyam communities prepare to utilize the Rural Broadband Model and Digital Empowerment Centres, these skills will be essential in ensuring that connectivity translates into meaningful use and lasting impact.

To many, digital inclusion means connectivity. However, our #BOLT (Building Opportunities Leveraging Technology) project defines connectivity as the ability of everyone to meaningfully participate in digital access and usage.
Last week, communities in Oyam district participated in a gender training aimed at addressing harmful gender stereotypes, the realities of digital gender gaps and practical strategies for promoting equitable access and usage of technology.
The training laid an important foundation for meaningful participation in the digital space and the successful implementation of the Rural Broadband Model and digital empowerment centers that will be deployed.

The engagement created important conversations around Digital Public Infrastructure(DPI), Artificial Intelligence, and the need to advance digital solutions that respect and protect human rights, especially women and children.
🤔 Does gendered disinformation only include malicious lies against cis-women?
🧐The answer, of course, is... NO!
‼️Because ➡️ Gendered disinformation can potentially target all women & marginalised genders/sexualities.
