Wake County residents are invited to weigh in on proposed Historic Preservation Standards that could shape how nearly 90 local landmarks are protected and maintained for years to come.

The Wake County Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed updates Tuesday, June 9, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 2800 of the Wake County Justice Center. Residents are encouraged to attend and share feedback on the updated Principles and Standards before the commission considers adoption.

@wcplonline is kicking off its #SummerReading Program with special events this weekend! 🌞📚🎉

This year’s program encourages young readers to dig into stories of all kinds — whether it’s listening to audiobooks, reading magazines, following a recipe, enjoying a graphic novel, exploring a web article, doing homework or even sharing a bedtime story. All reading counts toward the goal!

Libraries across the county will hold special programs and activities on Saturday, June 6, or Sunday, June 7.

Rachel Conway and Trevor Ketterling have dedicated their Raleigh home to giving animals second chances, fostering dozens of pets over the past four years. 🐾

Rachel, who works at @PackAthletics, and Trevor, an actor and former vet assistant, care for medical and behavioral foster cases while helping animals heal and prepare for permanent homes. Despite the challenges of fostering, the couple remains committed to being what Rachel calls “the steppingstone to forever."
