In school, we learn through subjects and we improve the quality of children's education by improving that subject teaching. This is the reality these numbers speak to.
There is enormous demand. We need much *more* work supporting improvements to the quality of children's education, subject by subject. It needs, like these reviews do, to consider the nature of subject progression and take account of what we now know about cognition.
