@Yashraj__ > Any plans to support BIP-77 async payjoin?
No direct plan but if external contributors wants to build support we can help
> how do you feel about letting users “save” silent payment addreses for future, since they can be reused??
Really good idea!
Peter Todd @peterktodd just released his report on Coinjoin privacy ahead of his talk at our event in Riga next week where he'll be speaking about it (link in next post)
Is there a flaw in Wasabi's privacy model? Peter digs into common privacy heuristics and gives an overview of each of the major implementations
Sparrow doesn't *require* it but strongly pushes for it, and works much better that way. Specter Desktop allowed for both but is basically dead.
Wasabi and Fully Noded might be the only two wallets I know of that work by directly connecting to a Bitcoin node.
For the record, Wasabi always used Custom Block Filters, not directly BIP158. v2.6.0 makes it possible to sync with filters created by a Bitcoin Node, and therefore sync exclusively with it.
On synchronization time, it is not as big of a problem as you might think, and well done (not yet the case in Wasabi) can provide a user experience close to privacy-harming sync mechanisms, especially for newish and smallish wallets (where UX is the most important)
If you use Wasabi with your own node, please make sure that you are running Wasabi v2.6.0.
Previous versions are affected by an issue that makes the client unable to process blocks 896727 and 897389
Clients running v2.6.0 or not connected to a specific node are not affected.

💪 Nostr Update Manager
We're introducing a cutting-edge mechanism using the censorship-resistant Nostr network to receive update information and download locations instead of relying on GitHub's goodwill.
Several times @benbybit referred to Wasabi as a mixer, and no change has been made despite our requests:
Wasabi is a... wallet.
Wasabi can act as a client for the WabiSabi Multi-Party Tx Protocol, users can then connect to any third-party coordinators, not related to Wasabi.
4.21.25 Executive Summary on Hacked Funds:
Total hacked funds of USD 1.4bn around 500k ETH. 68.57% remain traceable, 27.59% have gone dark, 3.84% have been frozen. The untraceable funds primarily flowed into mixers then through bridges to P2P and OTC platforms.
Recently, we have observed that the mixer mainly used by the DPRK is Wasabi. After a certain amount of BTC was washed through Wasabi, a small portion of it entered CryptoMixer, Tornado Cash and Railgun.
Then, multiple cross-chain and swap services were carried out through platforms such as Thorchain, eXch, Lombard, LiFi, Stargate, and SunSwap. Eventually, it entered OTC (Over-the-Counter) or P2P (Peer-to-Peer) fiat currency exchange services.
ETH Whereabout:
432,748 ETH (84.45%, ~$1.21 B) has been transferred from Ethereum to BTC via Thorchain
67.25% (342,975 ETH, ~$960.33 M) has been converted into 10,003 BTC across 35,772 wallets (Average 0.28 BTC each) .
1.17% (5,991 ETH, ~$16.77 M) remains on the Ethereum blockchain across 12,490 wallets (Average 0.48 ETH each) .
BTC Whereabout:
944 BTC (6.34%, ~$90.62 M) went to Wasabi Mixer.
531 BTC (equivalent to 18,206 ETH, 3.57%) has been transferred from BTC to Ethereum via Thorchain.
https://t.co/EEkj05V2xZ :
In the past 60 days, 5,443 bounty reports were received of which 70 were valid bounty reports. We welcome more reports, we need more bounty hunters that can decode mixers as we need a lot of help there down the road.
@benbybit Wasabi is not a mixer.
It's a wallet that has an implementation of a trustless multi-party transaction protocol, coordinated by third-parties.
In the same way Sparrow used to implement another coinjoin protocol not operated by Sparrow themselves.
