@columbo_dog@RodneyMarshall1 The first one -- OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies (2006) -- is clearly the best. Cause it's not just Dujardin. The girl, Bérénice Bejo, is really funny, too.
@columbo_dog@RodneyMarshall1 The OSS117 movies starring Jean Dujardin are wonderful. As funny as the Sellers' Pink Panther films. Unfortunately, I've not been able to see the third one -- OSS 117: From Africa with Love (2021) -- because it's unavailable in the US.
@semaforben@maxwelltani Many journalists (esp. J-school grads) suffer from Woodstein syndrome. They believe that they are on a mission. This energizes their work, but on a person level makes many come over as holier than thou (on a mission from G_d, as Ackroyd and Belushi put it in The Blues Brothers.)
@subject_eye@evgrieve There were only a few bookstores left on 4th Ave when I came to the East Village in 1975. Plus the one store in the building where the recently closed Starbucks sits. Everything was gone by the early 1980s.
@MCulpa40012@mrianleslie The excerpts are from The (UK) Times review, which is far and away the most honest review of the book, esp when compared to the uncritical, unincisive NYTimes review.
Remember it's a review of the BOOK, not of the Stones.
@bopy_petal@MorrisACollins A surname one can't pronounce writing stories one can't read (without falling asleep). Younger brothers Frederick and Steven wrote the lone Barthelme winner, Double Down, about blowing a bundle on poker.
