Families in Gre usually depend on the markets in low-lying areas along the Trishuli River for food. Unfortunately, flooding washed everything away, leaving entire communities without access to daily necessities. WCK is making regular helicopter deliveries to Gre to distribute staples like rice and oil, alongside other necessities like soap, to make sure residents have what they need as they recover. #ChefsForNepal

Sweet potatoes are a beloved treat in Gaza, especially in autumn. The local soil is good for growing the nutrient-dense vegetable, and they’re a popular street food around this time of year. Teams at WCK-supported community kitchens in Khan Younis prepared and served plates of roasted sweet potatoes to children, bringing the warm, comforting flavors of the season to life. #ChefsForGaza

Even before the recent landslides, Nepali terrain could be difficult to navigate. Today, because of the debris and damage, it's even more challenging, but that hasn't stopped WCK teams from making sure families in need receive meals. Whether we travel to kitchens by car, by foot, or even by helicopter, our #ChefsForNepal team and local community partners will use any available means to ensure people impacted by this disaster have something to eat.

After being forced to flee their home in Kherson, Tetiana and her family are rebuilding in the Khmelnytskyi region. She has always grown vegetables, so receiving a greenhouse and seeds from WCK is helping her feel closer to the life she had before. “When you work the land, you get distracted from all kinds of thoughts, you miss home less,” she told us. After years of uncertainty and separation, Tetiana says what matters most of all now is having her family close by to rebuild together. #ChefsForUkraine

For WCK, connecting with the communities we serve goes beyond familiar cuisine. When our #ChefsForNepal teams delivered meals in Galaudey, southwest of Bidur, we met Kusum and her daughter, who were displaced by the floods. They love to dance, and they showed WCK’s Karen videos of Nepali songs, dances, and their recitals so she could learn and dance with them. Just like food, dance brings people together to share culture, tradition, and joy.

Alongside our partner HEAL Palestine, WCK teams shared the joy of cooking with families at the Al-Shati Boy’s School shelter in Gaza. These displaced families have no kitchens to cook on their own, so we brought the kitchen to them—filled with the familiar smells of home. #ChefsForGaza

In Nepal, temporary shelters are returning to their normal functions as schools and community centers. WCK teams are standing with local community members as they navigate this change. Kherson, Ukraine, is known for its vineyards. But as Russian attacks on the region persist, many grape farmers are being forced to flee, losing large parts of their crops. WCK teams are working with these farmers, providing new vines so they can maintain and rebuild their livelihoods. As the grapes regrow, WCK's #ChefsForUkraine teams are standing beside the country's food producers.

Serving more than 1 million meals in Colombia after the earthquake wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of WCK’s local restaurant partners. Chefs at dozens of restaurants across impacted regions showed up every day to cook for their communities, bringing a special kind of comfort that only familiar meals can provide. For the second year in a row, WCK is partnering with the community of Tarasivka in Ukraine's northeastern Sumy region to cultivate a half-hectare community field—growing potatoes, beets, carrots, onions, and cabbage. WCK provides the seeds, seedlings, fertilizer, and crop protection supplies. Come autumn, the harvest goes directly to approximately 230 families living in the community as vegetable kits.
This is what empowering communities to care for themselves looks like: local hands growing food that travels from the field to the families who need it most. #ChefsForUkraine

A food kit might seem simple, but it can make a world of difference to a child in Gaza. This week, WCK delivered food kits along with treats like juice and biscuits to children at hospitals. The food will help fuel their recovery, but it will do something else that’s just as important: bring them a moment of hope, joy, and comfort. #ChefsForGaza

Last week, our trekking team from the Royal Beach Club set out on foot into the hardest-hit areas of northern Nepal. After six days of hiking and meeting locals, they had mapped out four separate communities—over 2,900 people—who were not receiving outside support since the devastating floods. Gre was one of them.
Over the weekend, we were able to fly in, bringing medical supplies, food, rice, oil, salt, soap, and school supplies for the children. #ChefsForNepal
