Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (formerly known as PCOS) affects an estimated 1 in 10 women of reproductive age, yet across the Caribbean, it remains one of the most under-diagnosed, underfunded, and misunderstood conditions out there. This journal entry from a Jamaican woman living with PMOS speaks to what so many of us carry quietly: the years lost waiting for a diagnosis because healthcare costs money we didn't have.  From "when yah a go breed," to the beauty standards of it all.  Her story is deeply personal but it's also political. Underfunded research. Underfunded public health systems. A culture that ties womanhood to motherhood. These aren't separate issues. They compound.

One of our biggest projects this year, The Relief Project, was built with post-disaster recovery in mind because recovery takes more than good intentions.  We were committed to reaching 1,550 people with real, tangible resources that make a difference in daily life. Every number on this page represents a person, a household, a family rebuilding.
We were able to accomplish all that we had set out for and even more! This is community at work.

WE woke up reflecting on Jamaica's VNR (Voluntary National Review) submitted earlier this year  to the UN's High-Level Political Forum and WE had a chance to be in the room. And of course, the data told a story WE already knew in our bodies, our households, and our communities.

Behind every relief package is a mountain of care, packed one box at a time. 📦💙
Earlier this year, our team sorted, loaded, and delivered essential supplies, water, hygiene products, wipes, and more  for families in Clarkstown, Trelawny recovering in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. It's not glamorous work, but it's necessary work, and it's a reminder that solidarity looks like showing up, again and again, until the job is done.

R.E.L.I.E.F Project: Phase Two 
Hurricane Melissa may have passed, but recovery is still very much underway. Phase Two of the R.E.L.I.E.F Project is here, supporting communities still rebuilding through: cash grants covering essential items, medical care, food, and shelter, delivered confidentially and prioritizing highly affected LBTQ women and vulnerable community members, $10,000 JMD gift cards (courtesy of Courts Jamaica & H&L) to help rebuild what was lost, potable water reaching 15 rural communities still without consistent access. This is what solidarity looks like in action, meeting people where the need is greatest, with dignity and care.

Earlier this year, when we were putting together relief packages for the community, this is what it actually looked like on our end. Not just the drop-off you see on camera but packing, sorting, boxes stacked to the ceiling, elevator rides up and down, the van loaded until there was no more room left. WE understood that
Relief is not just water and cash. It is the personal things too, pads, laundry detergent, the small things that get left off most relief lists but that people still need every single day, disaster or not.
This is what going into community actually looks like from our side. Tired, sweaty, and worth every trip.

This is the 2026 edition of our Social and Economic Justice Training Programme (SEJ), something we've run since 2015, but this year it has a sharper focus: economic justice for LBTQ people in Jamaica, especially LBQ women, trans women, transmasculine folks, and other AFAB community members who keep getting locked out of formal employment and access to capital.
