The Official Opening Ceremony of #NEISA2026 in Kigali marked a significant milestone in Africa’s journey toward sustainable energy development and industrial transformation, bringing together African leaders, policymakers, researchers, investors, and global partners committed to shaping the continent’s energy future.
H.E. @PaulKagame ,President of the Republic of Rwanda officially opened the summit, reaffirming the importance of nuclear energy in advancing Africa’s industrial growth, competitiveness, and long-term energy security. In his remarks, he emphasized the need for stronger regional cooperation, investment readiness, regulatory confidence, and practical financing mechanisms to support Africa’s clean energy transition. He also highlighted the increasing importance of reliable power systems in driving manufacturing, digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and sustainable economic growth across the continent.
During the ceremony, H.E. Dr. @SuluhuSamia , President of the United Republic of Tanzania also addressed delegates, stressing the importance of financing, regional collaboration, regulatory preparedness, and public confidence in advancing Africa’s nuclear energy ambitions. She noted that Africa’s rapid industrialisation, digital transformation, and rising energy demand require reliable and sustainable energy systems capable of supporting long-term development. The President further reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and exploring peaceful nuclear energy solutions as part of the country’s long-term energy strategy.
As #NEISA2026 continues, the summit stands as a powerful platform for dialogue, collaboration, and innovation, focused on transforming Africa’s nuclear energy ambitions into practical, sustainable, and investable realities that will support economic resilience, technological advancement, and inclusive development across the continent.
