@julianHjessop What happened during covid when stamp duty was paused? The prices didn’t come down, everyone foolishly adjusted their sale price to reflect. In theory stamp duty pushes up prices, but removing it won’t bring them down.

@miriam_cates They paid their national insurance trusting they would get a state pension. But as you have inadvertently pointed out, it’s funded by current taxpayers because gov has already spent what people paid in, therefore National Insurance is a Ponzi scheme
