📢 After seven years of campaigning, Jasmin Kasaya-Pilling welcomes progress in the new Children (Care, Care Experience, and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill- which extends aftercare for young people who left care before 16.
But more must be done to ensure lifelong, rights-based support for all Care Experienced people, and to ensure the Bill is within scope of the UNCRC Act.

Independent advocacy can make a real difference to the lives of Care Experienced people. That’s why we’re pleased to see the announcement yesterday where the Scottish Government included this in the Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill.
Thank you to everyone who supported our Action on Advocacy campaign that called for this. But the work isn’t done yet. We’ll continue to keep our eyes on the bill and scrutinise it as it progresses through the Scottish Parliament.
We know that keeping the Promise doesn’t end with this legislation. Successful implementation is essential to making real, lasting change across Scotland.💙
New Opportunity! Are you a visionary leader with a passion for making a difference?

This is Niamh’s story. A Care Experienced child who wanted to be heard, and with the support of independent advocacy, she was.
But this isn't every Care Experienced person's story. Too many people aren’t getting the independent advocacy they need, often because of their age, care journey, or where they live.
That’s why we’re taking Action on Advocacy. With the Promise Bill on the horizon, now is the time to secure lifelong, independent advocacy as a statutory right for all who need it.
Watch, share, and join us in making sure every Care Experienced person’s voice is heard👉 https://t.co/MVkvNT1JoV

Being Care Experienced doesn’t end at 18. Or 26. It is lifelong.
Our National Advocacy Helpline shows just how vital lifelong support is. Since 2020, we’ve taken over 3,500 calls from many adults aged 26 and over.
For many, we are the only place offering specialist advice, independent advocacy, and support without judgement or age limits. The demand speaks for itself: Care Experienced people of all ages need and deserve access to support.
📢 Help to make this happen by supporting our Action on Advocacy campaign.
