Amazing news! Gigantic congratulations to my wonderful colleague and friend @PikaGoldin for her hugely important work on women's labor market outcomes rewarded today by the @NobelPrize! So very very happy!
So many inspiring women economists!! Thanks for this amazing conference @BeckerFriedman@WiEMecon - If you want to meet other early career women in a convivial atmosphere & get constructive feedback from incredibly well chosen discussants apply next year!
About 3 years ago, after my talk in a virtual seminar, @Econ_Sandy emailed me with kind words and really helpful feedback on the paper. We had not met prior to that. The email meant the world to me as a Jr, and ultimately led to a better paper. 💕
Was honored to attend the amazing @WiEMecon conference hosted by @BeckerFriedman this weekend and give some advice for more junior academics. Below I share my top 10, which benefited from assistance from many of my very wise friends!
Huge thanks to the organisers of @WiEMecon!
What a fantastic conference - wonderful papers & opportunities to share career advice for female economists.
It was fab to discuss @Caro_cly’s great paper on #MeToo and labour market outcomes.
Thanks @WiEMecon and @BeckerFriedman for hosting this incredible gathering! Truly inspiring to see the incredible work being done by women in our field!
Another super cool paper form @WiEMecon - presented by @vini_singh_:
"How Power Shapes Behavior: Evidence from Physicians" by Manasvini Singh & Stephen Schwab
Amazing health data from the military! And I love the "results as a limerick" summaries of all of Vini's WPs.

Thank you @WiEMecon for the opportunity to get to present on a topic that is particularly relevant to many TT female profs and their partners! Paper draft here, thoughts welcome - https://t.co/lCle96oitu
Super interesting paper that had the whole Women in Empirical Micro conference buzzing yesterday.
“Getting Down to Business: Chain Ownership and Fertility Clinic Performance” by @ambarlaforgia & @julia_bodner
https://t.co/JyP23wYflM
I don’t study tariffs but this paper seemed super important. First question from the audience: “So are all previous papers wrong?”😳 Discussant said she went through all stages of grief while coming to terms w the implications.
“Missing Tariffs, False Imputation, and the Trade Elasticity” - no draft online yet but keep an eye out!
ORD -> IAH ✈️
It was so fun to be in a room full of women economists (and a few men!). @WiEMecon is such a wonderful conference - thanks for organizing & for having me!
Alison Andrew wrapping up WiEM 2023 with her work on "Revealed Beliefs and the Marriage Market Return to Education" (joint with@abicadams). Discussion by @rglenner (@UChicago).
Thank you all for tuning in!
@Caro_cly from @Unibocconi showing that women exposed to more toxic workplaces have higher quit rates following the #MeToo📷 movement. Women face a double penalty: experiencing toxic behavior and having to avoid certain workplaces. Discussion from @abicadams (@OxfordEconDept).
