The first fully 3D-printed microscope is here!🔬 Made from affordable resin lenses, this $60 microscope is easy to assemble in under three hours and can even magnify individual blood cells. Science just got more accessible!
Researchers have designed and assembled the first microscope built completely from 3D-printed parts! 🔬
Optical microscopes have led to countless scientific advances, and now you can print your own for only $60! While the original 3D-printed microscope blueprints have been available for a few years, accessibility was limited by the expensive commercial optical lenses needed to complete the microscope. Researchers at the University of Strathclyde recently developed optical-quality, 3D-printed lenses made out of an affordable, photopolymerized clear resin. The new, fully 3D-printed microscope can be assembled in under three hours, and can allow viewers to see individual blood cells!
