@Wordybabe2 Sometimes propinquity teaches us that closeness in time and space isn’t just about distance, it’s about how directly our actions touch other lives.
There’s something called -Chain of causation
It includes- Spatial Propinquity (Closeness in Place) and Temporal Propinquity (Closeness in Time)
When someone does an act and the results are far or near in place and time it affects the verdict
E.g you throw a wood in a crowded mall ⛓️💥 a man in the mall gets hit ⛓️💥 the man gets injured
You’ll be arrested and prosecuted
The act is very close in time and space to the result (propinquity or proximity)
However you will not be held liable if the act is far-fetched from the result
E.g You throw wood into the sea ⛓️💥 a big fish jumps out ⛓️💥 scares a man in the sandy beach close to sea⛓️💥 man collapses from shock⛓️💥man dies
No propinquity (In place) -the wood was thrown into the sea- the man is on land close to the sea
No propinquity (in time) The man collapsed out of shock from the Big Fish jumping out of the sea result is not when the stone was thrown
In the first example
The result is a direct, natural consequence of the act.
In the second the result is not a direct consequence of throwing the wood.
That’s how Propinquity also called Proximity affects verdicts
Court will consider Propinquity and Foreseeability and also intentions to give verdict
