Through @WorldVisionSR’s Back to School campaign, students across Syria received supplies and awareness on the importance of education, helping children like Heba stay in #school .

“I remember when my dad travelled to Türkiye to look for for a job for better life opportunities. I didn’t like it. It was like no one was there to support us. I needed to have my father by my side to help me, to motivate me, and to stand by me. But with time and when he had returned, I felt complete confidence to have all my family together in the same house. But when they are away, I feel broken, I talk less, and I become introverted.” Mahmoud, 17, a Syrian refugee in Jordan, said.

Today is Father’s Day. Fathers play an important role in children’s lives. Just like for young Mahmoud, fathers are there to care, support, teach, encourage, and help create a sense of completeness and stability within the family.

On this occasion, we celebrate all fathers around the world and the invaluable role they play in their children’s lives.

We also share a collection of photos from throughout the years featuring the fathers and children we have had the privilege to stand alongside.

Even after returning to their home country, children continue to struggle, our new policy brief on Ukrainian and Syrian returnees found.

“After we returned [from Türkiye to Syria], the nightmares and anxiety increased. I noticed that two of my children were afraid at night,” said one caregiver.

Children need psychological and psychosocial support after they return to make sure they can enjoy fulfilling childhoods and recover from the emotional toll and trauma they have experienced.
