Nothing new to see here … The fact that Sir Brian Langstaff has called for further evidence on the Government response speaks for itself.
This evening on @BBCPanorama we hear from the families of children infected in what’s been called the worst treatment disaster in NHS history. All ahead of the public inquiry into the scandal reporting next week. This evening from 8pm on BBC One. https://t.co/ka4R9A417b
Compensation for haemophiliacs infected with Hepatitis C is raised in the House of Commons for the first time. On the SAME DAY, the Advisory Committee on the Virological Safety of Blood Files are closed and marked for review in 5 years time.

So here we go again, government has changed rules, letting compensation being discussed and led by the people who created the issue in the first place.
Bayer please go away you disgust our community #contaminated blood
We are confused at to why the government has appointed the Chair of Oxford NHS Trust and Bayer Council Member, Sir Jonathan Montgomery, to provide the government with advice on compensation when a detailed framework was presented to the government by Sir Robert Francis KC almost two years ago.
Sir Robert’s framework and advice, which was welcomed by our community and endorsed by @bloodinquiry in its final compensation recommendations, has gone ignored by @cabinetofficeuk all this time.
Naturally, our community is concerned that @RishiSunak@hmtreasury@Jeremy_Hunt are seeking to water down the Inquiry’s final compensation recommendations.
The Oxford NHS Trust is at the heart of the infected blood scandal, at the centre of infectivity studies, and @Bayer manufactured and supplied much of the HCV & HIV infected Factor VIII products to the UK during the 1980s.

@virginmedia Well to be honest I feel that’s up to you to call me. I’ve made 15 calls and at the last call we terminated our services due the the awful service
My email is [email protected] if you wish to email me and apologise for the poor service
@virginmedia All external work done but customer services failed as they moved date to 27th and on 22nd we agreed on 29th Dec
no one come today and was told on phone at lunchtime they will be here.
Then told 16th January. Wow.
That would be 8 weeks with no services
Today we’re remembering George Michael who died on Christmas Day seven years ago.
George was a massively impactful HIV campaigner and advocate.
It’s brilliant news that Wham!’s Last Christmas is this year’s Christmas number one. George, you are missed.

If the amendment is passed the government would have three months to set up an Infected Blood Compensation arms-length body, chaired by a High Court judge, to administer compensation.
Interim compensation would be paid within a month.
