Special Assistant (New Media & Digital Communication) to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, HE Pastor Umo Eno, PhD | MSc, MS, MBA | CCEP | FIIM | Citp-MCPN | MNCS
I am pleased to share with my friends, colleagues and professional network the arrival of my official Master of Science degree Certificate in Computer Science from Imo State University, Owerri - IMSU
The programme concentration was on Data Communication and Network Engineering, and completed at Distinction level.
This milestone means a lot to me because the journey was not without challenges. There were moments that tested my strength, discipline and resolve. Yet, by God’s sheer grace, I surmounted the hurdles and completed the programme successfully.
Some may wonder why I chose to pursue another master’s degree, having already acquired four master’s degrees in different areas: Cloud Computing, Digital Transformation, Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics.
The answer is simple. Technology does not stand still. Each field connects to the other, but each also demands depth.
Cloud Computing gave me a stronger understanding of modern infrastructure and scalable digital services. Digital Transformation helped me understand how technology drives organisational change and business value. Cybersecurity strengthened my capacity to protect digital systems and manage risk. Digital Forensics deepened my knowledge of investigation, evidence and incident response.
Data Communication and Network Engineering completes an important part of that knowledge chain.
No digital system can function effectively without reliable networks. Cloud platforms, cybersecurity operations, digital services, enterprise systems, smart infrastructure and modern business processes all depend on secure, resilient and well-engineered communication networks.
I chose to further in this area because I wanted stronger technical depth in the foundation that supports today’s digital economy. For me, continuous professional development is not about collecting degrees. It is about building competence, staying relevant and preparing to solve complex technology problems with clarity and confidence.
I give all glory to God for His grace and strength. I also appreciate my family, mentors, lecturers, colleagues and everyone who supported me on this journey.
This achievement is both a testimony and a fresh motivation to keep learning, keep growing and keep contributing to the technology profession and society.

INEC Extends Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration, Introduces Full Online Registration
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended Phase III of the ongoing Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by two weeks and approved the deployment of a full online voter registration platform.
According to an official circular dated July 3, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Dr. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, the extension follows the Commission's meeting held on July 2, 2026, where it reviewed the progress of the exercise.
The Commission said the voter registration, which was initially scheduled to end on July 10, 2026, will now continue from July 11 to July 26, 2026, including weekends and public holidays, to allow more eligible Nigerians to register.
INEC also announced the introduction of a full online voter registration platform, enabling prospective voters to begin and complete their registration process online without visiting any Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) centre.
The Commission noted that all necessary logistics for the extension have been approved, including special allowances for Registration Officers (ROs) required to work during weekends.
Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) across the country have been directed to take note of the extension and ensure full compliance with the Commission's directive.
The move is expected to increase voter participation by making the registration process more accessible and convenient ahead of future elections.

GOV UMO ENO REAFFIRMS TRANSPARENCY, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AT JULY PROJECTS DELIVERY MEETING, SAYS GOVT HAS SAVED OVER ₦200 BILLION ON PROJECT COSTS
1. The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Tuesday presided over the July edition of the State Projects Delivery Meeting at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, timely project delivery and sustainable development.
2. Welcoming stakeholders, the Governor explained that the meeting was convened to provide the public with firsthand information on how government resources are being deployed for the benefit of the people. He reiterated that his administration remains accountable to the people through strict adherence to due process, transparency and prudent financial management, noting that the state’s in-house quantity surveying mechanism has saved over ₦200 billion, resources which have been redirected to critical development priorities.
3. Governor Eno cautioned against the deliberate spread of falsehoods about government projects, noting that the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, representatives of civil society organisations, the media and other stakeholders were invited to independently witness the open and transparent project review process and receive updates directly from government.
4. Highlighting major milestones across critical sectors, the Governor cited the unveiling of the 350-bed Ibom International Hospital, the commencement of twice-weekly Ibom Air flights to Accra, Ghana, the expected delivery of a new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, ongoing aviation infrastructure upgrades, rehabilitation of the Oron Maritime infrastructure, efforts to actualise the Ibom Deep Seaport, and other key development initiatives.
5. A general briefing on road infrastructure showed that the administration is executing a total of 1,305 kilometres of roads and 40 bridges across the state. The meeting was informed that, as of May 29, 2023, total payments on road projects, including inherited projects, stood at ₦743.315 billion, underscoring the administration’s sustained investment in critical infrastructure development.
6. Governor Eno also announced that Akwa Ibom State has received a six-million-dollar reward under the World Bank-assisted State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme for its outstanding performance in transparency, budget management and good governance. He added that the state also secured an additional three million dollars under the Nigeria for Women Project to support rural women. The Governor further highlighted the ARISE Compassionate Homes initiative and ongoing reforms designed to enable the state to take ownership of its electricity market.
7. The meeting received briefings on projects proposed for presidential commissioning later in the year, including major road projects, the ARISE Palm Resort, the Ibom International Hospital, the formal opening of the new terminal building at the Victor Attah International Airport, the Aviation Village, the Command and Control Centre, and the Governor’s Office Annex.
8. A major highlight of the meeting was the power sector briefing by the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Ms. Arit Uya, who presented the roadmap for the development of a functional state electricity market. The Governor reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring stable and reliable electricity supply to the people of Akwa Ibom State within 18 months through ongoing reforms, institutional strengthening, and private sector participation.
9. It also reviewed progress reports on the Oron Maritime Project, the Ibom International Convention Centre, Ibom Hotels, the Ewet Luxury Estate, and the construction of Youth Development Centres across the 31 local government areas, as well as model schools and primary healthcare centre projects. AKICORP also provided updates on the AKICORP Headquarters, Ibom Hotels and Apartments in Abuja, and Ibom Towers in Lagos.
10. Following the review of the 10 projects within the state’s aviation ecosystem, Governor Eno expressed concern over the persistent theft of corrugated iron perimeter fencing at project sites. He directed the Special Adviser on Aviation, the Commissioner for Internal Security, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Local Government Chairmen to work closely with village heads and youth leaders to safeguard public infrastructure. 11. As part of the meeting, Governor Eno led stakeholders on an inspection of one of the 20 brand-new CNG buses already delivered out of the 50 procured for the commencement of the state’s mass transit system. Stakeholders commended the Governor for the quality of the buses and applauded his vision of providing an efficient, clean and affordable public transportation system for Akwa Ibom people.

Akwa Ibom Earns $6.2 Million World Bank Reward for Governance Reforms
Akwa Ibom State has received a reward of $6,206,745.42 from the World Bank assisted State Action on Business Enabling Reforms Programme following its strong performance in transparency, budget management and governance reforms.
Governor Umo Eno announced the development during the July edition of the Monthly Covenant Service held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo.
The Governor said the reward followed the state’s performance in the 2024 SABER assessment and reflected the administration’s commitment to accountability, prudent management of public funds and institutional reforms under the ARISE Agenda.
He noted that the World Bank recognition came shortly after Akwa Ibom was listed among Nigeria’s leading states in governance performance by the Commonwealth Institute of Advanced and Professional Studies Governance Performance Index.
According to him, both assessments confirmed that Akwa Ibom was progressing in the right direction and demonstrated the value of consistent planning, responsible leadership and patience in the pursuit of sustainable development.
Governor Eno also reviewed developments in the aviation sector, announcing that Ibom Air had resumed international flights between Uyo and Accra, Ghana.
He said the flights currently operate on Thursdays and Sundays, adding that the airline would consider opening more international routes as passenger demand increases.
On transportation, the Governor disclosed that the state government had acquired 50 new Compressed Natural Gas buses to improve public transportation across the state.
He explained that the first batch of 20 buses had arrived, while the remaining 30 would be delivered subsequently.
Governor Eno said the buses were newly manufactured and would only be deployed after the selected drivers had undergone the required training.
The Governor further restated his administration’s plan to establish Youth Development Centres in the 31 local government areas of the state.
He said the centres would bring skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and empowerment programmes closer to young people in their communities.
According to him, the initiative also aligns with ongoing efforts to improve youth productivity and prepare young Nigerians for economic opportunities.
Governor Eno encouraged residents and visitors to explore the state’s expanding tourism facilities, describing the current period as a season of growth and opportunity for Akwa Ibom.
He specifically urged members of the public to visit ARISE Park and the ARISE Resort, assuring that the government would continue investing in tourism infrastructure and destination development.
The Governor also warned journalists, social media users and members of the public against publishing or sharing false and unverified information.
He urged content creators and media practitioners to verify their claims before publication, stressing that misinformation could damage reputations, mislead the public and undermine social stability.
Governor Eno advised those involved in spreading falsehoods to stop the practice, warning that offenders could face legal consequences.
He thanked Christian leaders and churches for their sustained prayers for peace, unity and progress in Akwa Ibom State.
The Governor said meaningful development required responsible governance, public cooperation and continued divine guidance.
Earlier, the Senior Pastor of Victorious Family International, Prophet Williams, delivered a sermon titled “Divine Rechristening,” drawn from Isaiah 62:1 to 4.
He encouraged Christians to remain firm in their faith and trust God for restoration, favour and a renewed identity.
The Covenant Service was attended by government officials, political leaders, members of the clergy and worshippers from different Christian denominations, who gathered to pray for the peace, stability and development of Akwa Ibom State.
NISO Management, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, on Wednesday received members of the newly inaugurated Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission, AKSERC, at its offices.
The visit opened discussions on the development of a collaborative framework for the effective integration of the Akwa Ibom electricity market into the national wholesale electricity market.
The engagement focused on key technical, operational and regulatory areas required to ensure a coordinated and efficient transition.
Welcoming the delegation, Engr. Mohammed congratulated members of the Commission on their appointments and commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for taking proactive steps to strengthen the state’s electricity market.
He noted that the state possesses strategic power assets, including the Ibom Power Plant, which could support its efforts to improve electricity supply and market development.
Engr. Mohammed also reaffirmed NISO’s commitment to continuous engagement and cooperation with AKSERC towards achieving a seamless and sustainable electricity market structure.
Responding, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of AKSERC, as well as Commissioner for Stakeholder Engagement and Consumer Affairs, Dr. Arit Uya, expressed appreciation to NISO Management for the warm reception.
She outlined the Commission’s vision of promoting reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity supply for residents of Akwa Ibom State.
Dr. Uya also commended NISO for its willingness to support the state in building on existing national electricity structures, noting that the partnership would help prevent duplication and promote smooth coordination between both institutions.

Tata Electronics Leak: Why Supply Chain Security Must Be End~to~End
The reported leak of information linked to the iPhone 18 Pro at Tata Electronics highlights a basic truth about supply chain security. A company may protect its own systems with strong controls, yet still suffer exposure through a supplier, contractor or manufacturing partner.
Apple may have secured its design servers with encryption, multifactor authentication and strict access controls. However, a supplier responsible for testing a prototype may download technical drawings, camera specifications or component measurements into a less protected internal system. If attackers compromise that supplier, they can obtain sensitive information without directly attacking Apple.
For example, imagine that a component manufacturer receives a file titled “iPhone 18 Pro Camera Module Test Specification.” The file may contain dimensions, performance requirements and supplier details. An employee stores it on a shared testing computer. That computer uses an outdated operating system and weak login credentials. An attacker gains access, copies the file and publishes parts of it online. The main company’s network remains secure, but its confidential information is already exposed.
The same risk applies to logistics firms, software vendors, cloud providers and maintenance contractors. A delivery company may hold shipment schedules. A cloud provider may store prototype images. A subcontractor may have access to manufacturing systems. Each organisation becomes part of the security perimeter.
The Tata Electronics incident shows that cybersecurity resilience cannot stop at one organisation’s boundary. Every connected partner must maintain comparable security standards. One weak supplier can expose an entire product ecosystem.
