"This change honors all parents who have the courage to complete the program and build successful families. Both single moms and dads achieve economic and social independence through the program as strong role models for their babies and toddlers." -Christina McGovern, CEO.
YSB's "Young Moms' Self-Sufficiency Program" has been renamed --> "Family Success and Self-Sufficiency Program" to reflect better the families we serve. While most participants are single mothers, one in five parents enrolled are single dads raising children w/o the mom.
Honored to receive statewide recognition from Early Learning Indiana! Thanks to their support, YSB has expanded its Young Moms’ Self-Sufficiency Program, providing crucial services to at-risk single moms and their children.

YSB supports youth locally in St. Joseph County, but we work nationally to replicate best practices through @youthcollabo -- a nat'l network of youth-serving orgs. YSB comes together to share and refine best practices in addressing the complex challenges homeless youth face.
Ever wonder who Youth Homelessness affects? Homelessness among young people is a fluid experience. From couch surfing to sleeping on the streets or in a shelter, the vast majority of youth do not become homeless by choice.
•Young parents—especially unmarried—had a three times higher risk than non-parenting peers.
•Youth with experiences of foster care, juvenile detention, jail, or prison.
At YSB, we accept and celebrate all people as they are. We give them immediate safety, resources to seek long-term support, and can be a listening ear that reminds them their right now is not their forever. Sometimes just being present can make all the difference.
1:5 youth who come to YSB in need of housing crisis services are LGBTQ+ individuals. These youth can sometimes be lost, scared, and battling tough relationships and rejection among peers and family members just for being themselves. They don't always see the path to acceptance.
