More details:

The photo was originally posted on 30 June 2026 with the caption “Good morning.”. It was later deleted and reuploaded at 19:36 local time without the caption and different music. I decided not to share it to delve more into the incident, but a colleague did, which turned out to be the right choice, as it deserves answers and reaching out to the identity of the man. Kodus. The soldier’s identity has already been shared.

By the time of publication, the individual in the photo had already completed his regular military service and was serving in the Hashmonaim Brigade. At the same time, another photo at the same time was posted from a military base near the Lebanese border. The simultaneous publication of these images contributed to confusion about the origin of the story.

The soldier had in fact uploaded an older story when he served in the netsach Yehuda, and not a recent one.

I myself wrote two tweets that ultimately contradicted each other because the situation was unclear and the available information was vague. Apologies. Soldiers have, in other cases, uploaded photos and videos that were months or even years old, which adds to the uncertainty. Which also a reason why us researchers decide to share it here to the public, it is a collective effort.
