#URGENT EU Commission chief calls for setting up new 'European Security Council' and EU-wide emergency security protocol when triggered, in which all member states would convene
Residents of Karachi, particularly those residing near the sea, woke up on Wednesday morning to a foul smell.
The cause: decaying microscopic marine algae and current weather conditions.

This is beyond sickening…another gut punch to science, scientists and the world for that matter. The beauty and strength of NSF is they have always funded the best science…fundamental thru applied. Zero politics. They funded 90% of my research over my 30+ year career…this is heartbreaking.
💔 My children are hungry, and as a parent, there is no pain greater than watching them suffer while being unable to provide enough food.
Where is the aid that was promised? Where is the hope we were given? 🇵🇸

The Supreme Court just blocked a Trump directive that would have eliminated mail-in voting for millions of Americans.
The executive order required USPS to implement strict new mechanisms and standards that would undoubtedly result in widespread rejections of valid mail-in ballots. USPS would have been instructed to refuse delivery or reject ballots from any voter whose state did not voluntarily share eligibility data or redesign its envelopes in time.
This comes despite the fact that noncitizen voting is extremely rare and statistically negligible. Whereas nearly 1/3 of all voters rely on mail-in ballots.
We reject this racist attack on democracy and invite you to join us in building a new system that is truly built by and for the people who make the world run—the working class!
During its annual conference in Brighton on Wednesday, the UK’s Trades Union Congress (TUC) – an umbrella organization with represents 5 million British workers, successfully voted to back the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Under this motion, the TUC is now mandated to actively campaign for an immediate end to all UK military cooperation and arms sales to Israel. It also commits the organization to cutting ties with Israeli trade unions and civil organizations, lobbying for divestment from companies complicit in Israel’s genocide, pressuring the UK government to sanction Israel, as well as "expanding economic, academic, cultural and sporting BDS campaigns"
Omar Barghouti, co-founder of the BDS movement, stated, “This mass movement of solidarity with the people of Palestine, led by Palestine Solidarity Campaign with many trade unions affiliated to it, is the reason why your government was compelled to adopt minor measures in the right direction to end its complicity … We are building massive power across the UK thanks to PSC and thanks to all the unions that have brought us to this point.”
Today is a critical anniversary. The founding of the Alliance of the Sahel States.

Three years ago, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger broke with the old regional order to form the Alliance of Sahel States.
US media calls their gov'ts “military juntas.” But on the ground, a much bigger political transformation is underway.

SDS member Eris Wolfer said, “Admin constantly restricts where we can distribute flyers, where we can table; we have to fight to reserve rooms to hold meetings. The policies being cited to restrict us are contradictory, confusing, or just entirely nonexistent when we look for them. The conservatives on campus aren't faced with the same scrutiny and are actively assisted when their events fail to capture attention, it all just feels really targeted.” https://t.co/3EDJ7VY42v
🌍 Three years ago today, the Alliance of the Sahel States was formed as an anti-imperialist political and economic union between Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.
AES was formalized through the Liptako-Gourma Charter, a defense pact that was signed after the Economic Community of West African States threatened invade Niger following its popular coup in
2023.
While the struggle to defend AES independence from colonial interests is far from over, the three countries have already made major strides in decolonizing the region. They terminated defense pacts with Paris and expelled French troops, seized assets that were exploited by Western corporations for centuries, nationalized mines, and turned East for new partnerships.
We stand with the people of the Sahel and all of Africa in their struggle for dignity and sovereignty. As the great Burkinabè revolutionary Thomas Sankara said, “When the people stand up, imperialism trembles."

Hondurans took to the streets of Tegucigalpa on Tuesday in opposition to the Trump-backed government of President Nasry Asfura.
Protestors called out the US president's meddling in Honduras's affairs which brought Asfura to power, as well as the trend of election interference responsible for the far-right wave sweeping across Latin America.
Fernando Cerimedo made headlines in August when it was revealed that the political consultant worked closely with numerous Latin American right-wing political figures to support their election bids through the use of bot farms and disinformation campaigns.
Reports show that Cerimedo worked closely with not only Asfura, but other Trump-aligned figures across Latin America such as Brazil's Jair Bolsonaro, Bolivia's Rodrigo Paz, Argentina's Javier Milei, and Chile's José Antonio Kast.
