WE DID IT! #Prop1 has passed!
NY's constitution will now protect our reproductive freedoms, including abortion, and protect every New Yorker from government discrimination, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, pregnancy status, disability status, or whether someone is LGBT.
BREAKING: New York has passed #Prop1!
New Yorkers used their vote to permanently protect abortion statewide, and showed up for LGBTQ, immigrant, and disabled New Yorkers by approving the most progressive and comprehensive state Equal Rights Amendment in the country.
Voters overwhelmingly approved the Equal Rights Amendment in Prop 1 to enshrine civil rights protections in our state constitution. Congratulations to @yesonprop1ny on this hard-fought victory in favor of protecting reproductive freedom and the rights of all New Yorkers!
While the world waits for the national election results, tonight, New York State lived up to our motto, “ever upward,” and took an extraordinary step forward in our enduring work to build freedom for all.
Thank you all.

Most of all, we thank all of the millions of New Yorkers who voted #YesonProp1NY, undeterred by a last minute, multi-million dollar smear campaign from out-of-state, anti-abortion billionaires determined to scare and divide voters.
Good morning from the Upper West Side, where a volunteer with New Yorkers for Equal Rights, via the NYCLU, was hoping to drive up the yes votes on Prop 1.
“We can remove the mystery of whether or not our rights can, and will, be tampered with. We can keep the power over our bodies and our futures where it belongs, in our own hands, by going out and voting 'Yes' on #Prop1.”--Nurse and New Yorker Annie Kapral in @citylimitsnews.

“Voters would be well served by voting yes on Proposal One, which is at its core about nothing more than ensuring that every New Yorker receives equal protection under the law, a principle we should all be able to embrace.”👏👏👏

La Proposición 1 consolidará nuestros derechos reproductivos en la constitución estatal para que los políticos antiaborto no puedan revertirlos en el futuro. No podemos dejar nuestras libertades básicas a los caprichos del péndulo político
