Doxy-PEP & Gonorrhea 🦠💊

The truth? It’s not as strong as we hoped.

1️⃣Clinical trials (US & France): 50% fewer cases
2️⃣ California health system data: showed only about a 12% drop in gonorrhea cases among Doxy-PEP users.
3️⃣Meta-analysis: Sometimes no significant protection

Why?
Because doxycycline was never really used to treat gonorrhea in the first place. Gonorrhea has been resistant to tetracyclines (like doxy) for decades. The protection is only partial, and weaker in places with high resistance.

Power Bottom Line: Doxy works amazing for syphilis & chlamydia.
But for gonorrhea… not so much. Keep testing, use condoms, and stack it with PrEP and good sexual health care. Maybe consider getting the Bexsero (4CMenB) vaccine, which offers 30-40% protection.
