Let's talk investment for a minute before the France vs Spain semi-final kicks off...

Our trips abroad are not about sightseeing; they are about presenting the strongest case for Kenya as the region's preferred investment hub.

We showcase the opportunities available in Kenya while exploring partnerships that increase exports, attract investment, and create jobs for our young people.

Two months ago, I joined H.E. President William Ruto on a visit to Kazakhstan, where we held a business forum and witnessed the signing of significant trade agreements and MoUs.

This afternoon, I met a high-level delegation of investors from Kazakhstan who are in Kenya to cement partnerships in mining, transport and logistics, as well as the tea and coffee sectors.

Kazakhstan is rich in minerals and has extensive expertise in mineral exploration and processing. The investors are keen to establish a logistics hub at the Port of Mombasa to reduce cargo costs and transit time.

They are also exploring direct cargo flights to Astana and, most importantly, are interested in sourcing more Kenyan tea and coffee.

We agreed to connect them with local tea and coffee suppliers while advancing discussions on port logistics and mining. They are ready for business, and we are ready to partner for the prosperity of our nation. These engagements will create jobs, unlock new opportunities for our businesses, and grow our economy.

The delegation was led by Nariman Absametov, CEO of Tau-Ken Samruk, a state-owned mining company, and H.E. Barlybay Sadykov, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Kenya.

🔹The 26th EAC MSMEs Trade Fair will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from 30 October to 8 November 2026.

The Trade Fair will spotlight the leather and horticulture value chains to accelerate industrial growth, job creation and import substitution, while remaining open to participation from all sectors across the region.

Leather presents major opportunity, with regional demand rising from 130 million pairs in 2017 to nearly 290 million in 2024, against local production of about 17 million pairs, and projected demand of 385 million by 2030. Horticulture remains a key pillar for food security, incomes and exports, with agriculture contributing over 25% of EAC GDP.

Operationalizing County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) should not wait until construction is complete.

Investor attraction and market linkages must begin early so that by the time the infrastructure is ready, industries, jobs, and opportunities are already taking shape.

CAIPs remain critical in driving value addition, industrialization, job creation, and positioning counties as competitive investment destinations.

Today, I met Murang’a Governor H.E. @HonKangata to discuss collaboration between the County Government and the
@MITIKenya in attracting investors to the Murang’a Industrial Park.

The park, currently at 55% occupancy, has been strategically designed into 13 specialized zones covering healthcare, manufacturing, education, sports, innovation, housing, and critical infrastructure.

A key highlight is the 75-acre Murang’a Medicity dedicated to healthcare investment opportunities including expansion of Kenneth Matiba Hospital, pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, and other health-related facilities.

The 276-acre Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is earmarked for light and heavy industries, particularly agro-processing to support Murang’a farmers in tea, coffee, avocado, maize, and macadamia value chains. Investors will enjoy incentives similar to those available in EPZs, creating a favourable environment for manufacturing and export-oriented industries.

The park also has land set aside for educational institutions from primary to tertiary level, housing projects including high-rise apartments for workers, affordable housing under the ongoing national programme, and major infrastructure including roads, internet, water, sewerage, and power systems, presenting strong joint venture opportunities.

The County Government is seeking support in linking the project with international investors and establishment of a KPLC substation to guarantee reliable power supply for industrial operations.
