Amanda @ASimardL and I had a wonderful time joining many members of our community celebrating the Canada Day weekend at the annual Toronto Ribfest at Cloverdale Mall!
Organized by the Rotary Club of Etobicoke @RCEtobicoke, Ribfest is on until June 28th so make sure to make your way to Cloverdale Mall for a lot of fun, great food, live music, and community.
A big thank you to the Rotary Club of Etobicoke for organizing this wonderful event and to all the volunteers! #Etobicoke
Music brings people together across cultures, languages, and communities, and I had a wonderful time at Mabelle Park for the Small World Music Festival!
The festival continues this weekend through to Sunday and is a celebration that brings together artists, families, neighbours, and music lovers from many backgrounds, cultures, and languages.
Through music, food, workshops, and activities for kids, the festival reflects what makes our community so special by bringing neighbours together, sharing stories, and celebrating together.
Thank you to @mabellearts, @smallworldnotes, the artists, organizers, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this such a vibrant community celebration.

I was proud to join my friend Christopher May @may_christopher and our community at the Etobicoke/Mississauga Walk to End ALS and stand with families, friends, caregivers, and community members affected by ALS.
This walk is more than a fundraiser. We came together to celebrate and honour the people we have loved and lost to this disease and show support for Canadians and their families living with ALS.
Thank you to @ALSCanada and everyone who walked, volunteered, donated, and helped build such a strong community of care and support.
As Chair of the Canada-Albania Parliamentary Friendship Group, I was proud to attend @airtransat's launch of the new TorontoโTirana route, the first-ever direct air connection between North America and Albania, along with Albaniaโs Ambassador to Canada, @ArtemisMalo, other guests, and passengers of the inaugural flight.
This historic route builds on the new air transport agreement between our two countries, which I was proud to advocate for and help advance.
Direct air service will open new economic opportunities by making it easier for businesses, investors, entrepreneurs, tourists, and families to connect. It will help grow trade, support tourism, strengthen commercial ties, and deepen the people-to-people links that are at the heart of the Canada-Albania relationship.
Canada and Albania are NATO allies with a growing partnership, and this new route is an important step in building an even stronger economic relationship between our two countries.
Congratulations to everyone who helped make this milestone possible.
History made! Congratulations to Canadaโs Menโs National Team on a record-setting 6โ0 victory, Canadaโs first-ever win at the World Cup.
On home soil, under the Maple Leaf, our team showed the world what Canadian soccer has become: bold, confident, united, and ready to compete with anyone.
This is a proud night for our country, for Canadian soccer, and for every young player who dreams of one day wearing Canadaโs colours.
The Maple Leaf flies high tonight.
Go Canada! Allez les Rouges!
Let's keep it going! #CanMNT
PM @MarkJCarney: "The tide is turning as expected in this war. Ukraine will win. It's just a question of time. It's just a question of how much senseless slaughter Russia perpetrates. And what we see today is unity in the G7, unity behind you (Ukraine)."
As online harms intensify, children are particularly at risk. To better protect them, our government has introduced the Safe Social Media Act, which will make social media services and AI chatbot services safer for children.
The bill, if passed, would require social media services and AI chatbot services to identify, mitigate, and address risks of harm on their platforms, and to develop services that are safe by design and put the safety of children first.
It would also prevent Canadians under 16 from having accounts on social media services, while providing a process for social media platforms to seek an exemption if they can demonstrate that they have put in place a sufficient set of protections for children.
This law is about holding platforms accountable and ensuring they have protections in place to keep children safe online, reduce harm before it happens, and ensure that digital spaces are safe by design all while protecting the privacy of Canadians.
Our new National Food Security Strategy means more competition for retailers and lower prices for Canadians.
The strategy is backed by more than $3 billion to increase grocery competition, support Canadian food production, grow more fruits and vegetables year-round, and cut red tape across the agricultural supply chain.
This means more choice, greater food security, and lower costs for families.
On Monday, Bill C-14, the Bail and Sentencing Reform Act, became law.
In October, I joined Prime Minister @MarkJCarney in #Etobicoke to announce this legislation to strengthen the Criminal Code, introduce stricter bail laws, and increase sentences for serious criminal offences.
This legislation targets repeat and violent offenders, including those accused of serious crimes such as auto theft, breaking and entering, human trafficking, sexual assault, and violent assault.
Let me be clear: public safety is a shared responsibility. The federal government is responsible for the Criminal Code and bail laws, but provinces are responsible for administering the justice system, including courts, prosecutors, correctional facilities, and jails.
That means these changes will only be fully effective if the Ontario government takes the necessary steps to properly resource the justice system and ensure these laws are enforced.
I will continue working with all levels of government to reduce crime, strengthen public safety, and keep our community safe.
I had the pleasure of attending the Etobicoke Community Fair at Cloverdale Mall on Saturday. My constituency office team and I were there answering questions about the services we offer and engaging with members of the community to learn more about your needs and priorities.
It was also an excellent way to get to know the other organizations active in our community.
A heartfelt thanks to the Central Etobicoke Community Hub Initiative @EtobicokeHub for organizing the fair. Together, we are building a stronger #Etobicoke.
This morning, a Toronto Police Officer, Constable Marc Pinizzotto, was killed in the line of duty. This tragedy follows the death of OPP Constable Tarun Bali on Tuesday. Canada mourns the loss of these brave officers who dedicated their lives to protecting their communities.
My prayers are with their loved ones, their fellow officers, and their communities in this time of grief.
