Growing interest in investing in Zimbabwe’s Tourism Sector characterised the Zimbabwe Diaspora Tourism Investment Forum held in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America, where members of the Zimbabwean Diaspora converged to explore Tourism Investment opportunities and embrace the Second Republic’s drive to transform Zimbabwe into an upper middle income society by 2030. Officiated by the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon Barbara Rwodzi, the Forum forms part of Government’s broader strategy to strengthen Diaspora engagement and accelerate Tourism-led Economic Transformation under Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2 (2026–2030). The Forum generated overwhelming interest from the Zimbabwe Atlanta community, with participants expressing a strong desire to invest back home and seeking clarity on opportunities across Zimbabwe’s Tourism value chain.
Welcoming delegates, the Ambassador of Zimbabwe to the United States of America, His Excellency David Hamadziripi, commended Minister Rwodzi for elevating Destination Zimbabwe’s global profile through strategic Tourism marketing, which continues to earn Zimbabwe International recognition. Delivering the keynote address, Minister Rwodzi reaffirmed Government’s commitment to continuous Diaspora engagement through His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa’s Engagement and Re-engagement Foreign Policy, underpinned by Soft Diplomacy and the principle that “Zimbabwe is a Friend to All and an Enemy to None.” Guided by Vision 2030, Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals, she said the Second Republic continues to implement inclusive Economic reforms founded on Devolution, Rural Industrialisation and the philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind, while recognising the Diaspora as a strategic partner in National Development.
The Minister applauded Zimbabweans in the United States for their invaluable contribution to the economy, noting that the United States-based Diaspora contributes approximately 12% of Zimbabwe’s remittance inflows, while Diaspora remittances have remained a key pillar of economic resilience over the past three years. She called on Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to transform remittances into Economic Investments back home, particularly within the Tourism Sector, which she described as a low-hanging fruit and high-impact Investment Sector under the Zimbabwe is Open for Business mantra. She highlighted Investment opportunities in Accommodation, Conference Facilities, Rural Tourism, Cultural and Heritage Tourism, Gastronomy Tourism, Renewable Energy, Waste Management and Community-Based Tourism, supported by improved Air Connectivity and the Ministry’s Tourism Cluster Strategy. Complementing the Minister’s presentation, the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA), the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, the Mosi-Oa-Tunya Development Company and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority delivered presentations showcasing Zimbabwe’s competitive Investment opportunities across the Tourism value chain, further reinforcing the country’s attractive Investment climate.

Our friends, Zimbabwe have put a Hot Air Ballon across the Victoria Falls. As Zambians, when it comes to advertising the Vic Falls, lets learn. Outside, world largely knows Vic Falls as being in Zim. Congratulations to the Zimbabwean Ministry of Tourism, they beat us plainly !!
The historic touchdown of Air Zimbabwe’s Airbus A330-300 at London Gatwick Airport marks the successful return of the Harare–London route after a 16-year hiatus, signalling a major milestone in Zimbabwe’s Tourism growth trajectory. The maiden direct flight, carrying 84 passengers, included the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Hon. Adv. Felix Tapiwa Mhona and the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa. Upon arrival, the aircraft was received by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Colonel Christian Katsande, together with Embassy officials, underscoring the significance of restoring this strategic International air link.
The reinstated direct service reconnects Zimbabwe with its second-largest International source market, significantly enhancing Destination accessibility and reinforcing the country’s Tourism competitiveness. Following a remarkable 52% year-on-year increase in Tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom in 2025, the route is expected to accelerate Tourist arrivals, expand Tourism business opportunities, stimulate Leisure and Business travel, strengthen Diaspora connectivity and create new opportunities for local tour operators to develop innovative travel packages. Speaking on arrival the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon T.M. Mnangagwa said the restored route will strengthen Tourism , Trade and Bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom and Europe while providing Tourists with a seamless gateway to experience Destination Zimbabwe. The return of the Harare–London service also expands air access from the UK market, further positioning Zimbabwe as an accessible and competitive destination within the global Tourism and Aviation landscape.

The United States of America remains Zimbabwe's largest overseas source market, with Tourist arrivals increasing from 18 756 in 2021 to 109 959 in 2025, firmly maintaining its position as the country's leading international source market. This sustained growth underscores the strategic importance of the North American market and reinforces the significance of Zimbabwe's participation in the Africa's Eden Roadshow, which commenced in Atlanta as part of a targeted Tourism engagement campaign across six cities in the United States and two in Canada. Representing the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon Barbara Rwodzi, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Chief Executive Dr George Manyaya reaffirmed Government's commitment to Sustainable Tourism development, enhanced Destination accessibility, Tourism Investment and strengthened Public-Private partnerships under the Experience Zimbabwe destination brand. Tri Sij Travel also confirmed its readiness to begin selling Zimbabwe, signalling expanding commercial opportunities for the destination. The programme concluded with commitments to destination training, stronger collaboration between American travel advisors and Zimbabwean Destination Management Companies (DMCs), as well as invitations to participate in the forthcoming Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo in Masvingo, laying a solid foundation for increased visitor arrivals, enhanced destination visibility and long-term tourism growth from Zimbabwe's number one overseas source market.
