This could be the "chocolate and peanut butter" combo that blazes a trail for Web3 IP into mainstream pop culture. Gary Vaynerchuk is bringing his "VeeFriends" property into the animation world with the help of Moonbug Entertainment, masters of 2D short-form animation that have made CocoMelon and Blippi household names on YouTube.

The series will premiere in September and be set in the VeeFriends universe, featuring characters like Gratitude Gorilla and Quick Quail, competing in the VeeDome to address tween-related issues. The collaboration aims to expand the franchise across new platforms and audiences, with episodes starting as three-minute shorts on YouTube. And games are definitely not the "end game" for this form of AI. Google Introduces AI to Play Games Like a Human🕹️

Google DeepMind has unveiled SIMA (Scalable, Instructable, Multiworld Agent), an AI agent designed to learn gaming skills to play video games more like humans. Unlike traditional AI that focuses on winning, SIMA aims to follow instructions and integrate seamlessly with human players. It combines natural language instruction with 3D world understanding and image recognition to learn general gaming skills.

Google worked with game developers like Hello Games and Coffee Stain to train SIMA across various games, including No Man’s Sky and Goat Simulator 3. Currently, SIMA has basic skills like turning left and climbing ladders, but it's expected to perform more complex tasks in the future. While SIMA is not intended to replace existing game AI, it could serve as another player within a game, potentially offering new gameplay experiences.

The much ballyhooed music festival has partnered with OpenSea on three NFT collections offering both virtual and real-life VIP experiences and merchandise. The first collection, VIP Pass + Oasis Lounge Keepsake, provides access to exclusive festival benefits and is priced at $1,499 per NFT.

Coachella tried this a few years ago with (checks notes) FTX, soo... they are trying it again with the Avalanche blockchain with the goal of using NFTs to provide tangible offline utilities alongside digital ownership. This partnership signifies a shift towards utility-driven NFTs, expanding beyond traditional collectibles to offer real-world value and experiences, potentially driving mainstream adoption of the technology. Week to week one of the more predictable stories to be announced (besides another AI company launching) is a fashion brand getting into the Metaverse. It's now to the point, however, that we're even scratching our heads on the efficacy of some of these moves.

Will the desire of owning luxury digital goods convert into purchasing luxury physical goods? And if the behavior of these young adults is spending X amount of hours in virtual worlds every day, will they have the income that allows them to even buy these goods? The much-beloved music festival, Coachella, plans to release NFT passes for its upcoming 2024 show. After being burned by FTX in a previous collection, the festival is putting its hope in OpenSea and Avalanche.

The new 1,000-piece collection, "The VIP Pass + Oasis Lounge Keepsake," will include a VIP Festival Pass and grant the holder access to a lounge with complimentary drinks and treats. But that's just the first tier...

On March 25th, the "Canvas Welcome Box Keepsake" will be available to claim, and then the third and final tier will arrive mid-April to feature an unspecified artist collab. The pricing and other details are still up in the air, but the festival's Innovation Lead was sure to note the collection's enhanced security and organized process.

Coachella's shift reflects growing trust in the Web3 space and general interest in digital collectibles within gen pop. With time, this event execution is sure to spread throughout the entertainment industry and pave the way for similar initiatives.
