Dr. Yumi Yamane, Director, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Nairobi Research Station, highlighted the opportunities available through Japan’s research programmes. These include support for international joint research and seminars through bilateral programmes, international joint research programmes and Core-to-Core programmes, as well as international training opportunities for young researchers through initiatives such as the Frontiers of Science (FoS) Symposia and HOPE Meetings with Nobel Laureates.

A proud moment for Zetech University as our Law students emerged Best Overall Mediation Plan at the just-concluded 4th Annual International Inter-Varsity Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Moot Court Competition, held in Nairobi in honour of Hon. Justice (Rtd.) Joyce Aluoch.

Their performance, which also saw the team secure 3rd place and advance to this round, is a testament to the thorough preparation, strategic thinking and teamwork that went into the competition. More than the competitive result, the experience provided an opportunity for our students to represent Zetech University on an international stage while deepening their understanding of interest-based negotiation and strategic dispute resolution.

Bringing together teams from leading universities across Africa, the competition challenged students to demonstrate their skills in mediation, advocacy, collaboration and alternative dispute resolution. Our team was also recognised with medals for their outstanding collaboration and teamwork, further reflecting the collective spirit that defined their performance.

Through the competition, Zetech Law Students honed their ability to balance strong advocacy for their clients' interests with the flexibility and problem-solving approach required to achieve collaborative outcomes. Congratulations to our Law students for flying the Zetech flag high! 👏

Dr. Jajal brings extensive experience in academic leadership, research, and technology-driven education.

His academic and research interests span cybersecurity, digital image forensics, machine vision, secure information exchange, e-governance and ICT applications. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and participated in international research conferences, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in technology.

As he takes on this leadership role, Dr. Jajal brings a wealth of academic, technical and management experience that will contribute to the continued growth, innovation and transformation of the School.

Zetech University will host the Kenya–Japan Co-Creation Workshop, a platform for researchers and higher education experts from Kenya and Japan to advance interdisciplinary cooperation and strengthen research collaboration.

The discussions will examine endangered language revitalisation, inclusive waste management, rural-urban water reallocation, cybersecurity in mobile money and digital banking, competency progression tracking and civic engagement among Kenya’s Generation Z.

The workshop will also highlight study and research opportunities in Japan, creating pathways for academics and researchers to connect with institutions and pursue collaborative research across disciplines.

At The Law Career Fair – #BecomingWakili, Kenya Edition held at TheSupreme Court of Kenya, @ZetechLawSchool students engaged with some of the country's respected legal minds, including former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, gaining perspectives on legal practice, leadership, integrity, resilience and service.

The conversations encouraged them to embrace lifelong learning, recognise their unique strengths, and approach the profession with purpose while remaining active contributors to society.

The future of hospitality isn't learned from a textbook alone. It is experienced. With Kenya's Travel & Tourism sector evolving rapidly through technology, changing guest expectations, sustainability and new tourism experiences, the industry continues to play a significant role in the economy. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the sector contributed US$12.7 billion to Kenya's economy in 2025, equivalent to 9.3% of GDP, while supporting 1.8 million jobs, 8.3% of total employment, and welcoming 2.5 million international visitors.

For our Hospitality and Tourism students, understanding this evolving industry meant stepping beyond the classroom and experiencing it first-hand.

During their industrial visit to the Kenyan Coast, the students got an insider's look at hospitality in action at PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort & Spa, Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa and Bamburi Haller Park. They explored the realities behind exceptional guest experiences, giving them practical insights into how conservation, attractions and visitor experiences come together to shape destinations and contribute to the wider tourism ecosystem.

More than a visit, it was an opportunity to observe, engage, ask questions and connect classroom knowledge with the realities of the industry they are preparing to join. Because tomorrow's hospitality professionals will need more than technical knowledge. They will need to be adaptable, innovative, customer-focused and ready to create experiences that keep people coming back.
