Three years ago, Austin elected me to fight for a more affordable, more just Austin.
We’ve delivered real change – even when the state pushed back.
I’m running for re-election to keep fighting for our future. https://t.co/KySqGDJaEz
I'm honored to have @LloydDoggettTX support behind my re-election!
Generations of Austinites have benefited from his leadership & his willingness to stand up for ordinary people.
I'm proud to continue that work by fighting for housing affordability and opportunity for everyone.
Texas Republicans talk nonstop about “protecting children.”
Meanwhile, Ken Paxton helped his friend - Adam Hoffman - walk away with just 30 days in jail after repeatedly raping a 5 year old.
Child predators get more grace from Paxton & Trump than working Texans ever will.
Breaking News: President Trump endorsed Ken Paxton for Senate in Texas just a week before his primary runoff against Senator John Cornyn. https://t.co/s6LIYfdXVJ
** Update 4:28PM 5/17: The shelter in place for the south Austin area has been lifted, and two suspects are in custody. One remains at large in the Manor area. More information to follow.
The Austin Police Department is currently investigating multiple shootings in the Austin area, including two fire stations.
Most of the shooting have occurred in South Austin. There is no specific motive, and they appear to be random.
It appears the suspect(s) are changing vehicles which is why we need everyone to be vigilant.
If you see anything suspicious, know the whereabouts of the suspect(s), or any of the suspect vehicles, do not approach. Instead, call 9-1-1 immediately.
If you have information about these incidents, contact APD's Aggravated Assault Unit at 512-974-5177. Tips may also be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers program online or at 512-472-8477.
As of 3:30PM on May 17 there is a shelter in place in the areas of South Slaughter Ln, East McKinney Falls Pkwy, North Ben White Blvd., and West Escarpment Blvd. Residents in the surrounding area are instructed to stay indoors until further notice.

Before the Trump administration poured billions into ICE and built partnerships between local police and state and federal immigration agents, Texas was already doing it.
So, for those opposed to the deportation surge, Texas is worth paying attention to. https://t.co/Uv9To2hG4T
Stopped by the Little Free Bakery pop-up and got to celebrate something really special.
A space where everything is free, neighbors take care of each other, and community comes first.
Grateful to present a proclamation recognizing May 3 as Little Free Bakery Day.
Honored to have Gina Hinojosa in our corner.
Gina has always shown up—for students, for working families, and for communities that deserve to be heard.
That’s the kind of leadership we’re building this campaign around.

In Austin's North Loop neighborhood, when people line up once a month on weekends, their reward is a little sweet treat that is free. No cash, no cards, just a smiling woman behind a table offering a pick-me-up in a park. https://t.co/LJAW12wHBk
Rain or shine, Austin runs on labor.
Every street, stage, classroom, and clinic depends on people showing up and doing the work.
This May Day, we recognize the dignity of that labor and the responsibility to protect it.
Yesterday, my colleagues @CMZoQadri@cmkristalaine@CMChitoVela@joseforatx and I called a public meeting on autonomous vehicle safety in Austin so the public could hear directly from companies operating on our streets, but Waymo declined to attend.
Here’s a clip from yesterday’s Public Safety & Mobility Committee meeting.
A quick look at the conversations happening around safety, innovation, and how these technologies operate on our streets. This work is ongoing, and it matters for our community.
⚠️ Avoid driving through a severe thunderstorm. ⚠️
Prior to a storm’s arrival, move vehicles into garages or carports to prevent damage. 🚖
Hail the size of dimes or larger can cause dents on vehicles, damage roofs, or break windows. 🌩️
Disappointed Waymo didn’t show up to yesterday’s Public Safety & Mobility meeting. People deserve transparency when it comes to safety on our streets.
This isn’t partisan, it’s public safety. Reach out to your reps and to Waymo. Accountability only happens if we demand it.
I’ll be at KUT Festival (May 1–2 @ UT Austin) talking about what resistence to immigration enforcement looks like.

Abbott threatened Austin. City management complied.
That’s not leadership.
I’m standing with @MikeSiegelTX@VanessaForATX and @joseforatx —our communities deserve courage, not capitulation.
Grateful to everyone who showed up for the renters’ rights teach-in with BASTA. Thank you to the organizers doing this work every day. We’ll keep showing up for renters and fighting for safe, dignified housing in District 9.
