@billchilds Thought this was an ACL subtweet but was confused b/c Shania Twain was 1/12 of the top 6 (i.e., only playing one weekend). And then realized they just announced their daily schedule today. So there's probably a subtweet of yours from ~3 months ago.
@billchilds Down a bit of queso rabbit hole now, but reading a Kenji Lopez-Alt piece on the topic reminded me of how underwhelmed I am by Shake Shack's cheese sauce. I know, not literally queso, but same concept. Accept Veleveeta in this case, folks.
So thank you, @NPRmelissablock, for all your work (kids music and of course far beyond that) over the years. I'm very grateful for you reaching out many years ago and wish you all the best in whatever comes next. (4/4)
I don't want to overstate things, but Melissa's interest in kids music, which led to significant coverage on NPR, was one of the most important factors that boosted the visibility of the genre in the mid-aughts and beyond. (1/x)
๐ปSome personal/professional news:๐ป
After 38+ years @NPR, I've decided to take a voluntary buyout. I'll be staying on as a correspondent until the end of June, and you'll hear me guest-hostingย @npratc later this month... 1/2
And of course, on a personal level, Melissa reaching out to this weird blogger with a niche website and asking if I wanted to talk about kids music on the radio led to a host of opportunities I'm unlikely to have had otherwise. (Plus, those conversations were *fun!) (3/x)
