When I was Muslim, I used to smirk at the shortest verse in the Bible. A crying God? Weak.

“Jesus wept.” John 11:35. Two words. It should bring you to your knees.

Then I actually read WHERE He’s standing.

At the tomb of His friend Lazarus. And here’s the part that undoes me: He’s about to raise him. In sixty seconds He’ll shout that dead man back to life. The victory is already loaded.

And He weeps ANYWAY.

He didn’t have to. The happy ending was already in His hand.

But He looked at the grief around Him — the sisters, the mourners, the sheer wreckage that death makes of everything — and He entered it. He let it hit Him. God, with tears running down His face, at the graveside of someone He loved.

The God of Islam was too majestic to weep. I was proud of that. Until I met a God who was strong enough to.

Whatever you’re burying right now — He’s not watching from a safe distance.

He’s the God who weeps at gravesides.

The Left has finally discovered “lawfare” and it’s apparently the worst thing to ever happen to democracy.

Not when Douglass Mackey got years in prison for a meme. Not when January 6 defendants were held in solitary and given multi-year sentences for trespassing and parading. Not when conservatives had their homes raided, businesses destroyed, and lives torched for years while the media cheered.

No, the real outrage only kicked in the second some Antifa radicals got hit with 30 to 100 years for showing up in tactical gear with rifles, explosives, and the bright idea to shoot a cop in the neck during a planned attack on an ICE facility.

Now suddenly these people are political prisoners. Now the media is rushing to call it a “protest” and “crackdown on dissent.” Now we’re supposed to pretend that bringing body armor, disabling cameras, and opening fire on police is just passionate activism that got a little out of hand.

It’s almost impressive how fast the standards change. When the right does anything, every selfie is an insurrection and every text message is a conspiracy. But when Antifa brings guns and tries to ambush cops on the 4th of July, we’re told we need to understand the “context” and that long prison sentences are a threat to democracy.

The rules are very simple: If your side shoots a cop, it’s lawfare. If their side gets shot at, it’s accountability.

The Left didn’t suddenly grow a conscience about prosecutorial abuse. They just don’t like it when the people catching serious time are the ones who usually get a pass.
