Now that VR headsets are adding eye tracking, someone should make a game with monsters like the weeping angels from Doctor Who. It'd be freaking impossible to beat those things. Just doing a couple simple tasks in a small space without blinking is perfect for a VR setup.
@thecaitcode Agree!!! I was a choir teacher at a tough public middle school prior to changing to tech. I would be physically and mentally exhausted every day after school. Kids are relentless. Normal work day would be show up at 6:45am and leave around 5. (Excluding concerts/events/contests)
What are some characteristics of a Senior developer that you think earns them that title? (Apart from being the developer who's been at the company the longest)

@saltnburnem I'm a weird case where it's mostly the introduction hurdle that I have troubles with. It's way easier if I'm somewhere with someone I know, otherwise I have to psych myself up to fake being extroverted for a bit. After the introductions my ADHD will keep me chatting for hours.
@thecaitcode First: Pillow Fort
Second: If there's a bath, long bath
Third: Bing watch all of Abbott Elementary
Fourth: Find a good app game
Fifth: Go down the rabbit hole of incredible first auditions on ${singingShowHere}
Sixth: Find a good fiction book series to binge
Seventh: Sleep
@makneta I went to a Linux meetup and there was someone who had freelance work, and needed help with frontend stuff. We built out a simple app for his hardware during the meetups in a few weeks and he paid me for the time.
Networking can give you all kinds of opportunities!
I'm moving next week, and also starting up a greenfield coding effort for work this week. Two very different project planning/execution situations. Trying to keep up with everything is tough.
@tdesseyn Great insight for the industry! So many job descriptions are pushing towards seeking that person that seemingly has a mastery of dozens of tech specializations, so, many of us constantly try to become that jack of all trades. You don't need all the skills for every single role.
I have ADHD and don't always remember to keep posting on Tech Twitter every day, throughout the day. How do y'all who post throughout the day actually stay consistent with it?

@dawns_line I compare learning JavaScript to learning how to read and perform music. The basic structure takes a while to learn, there are always different trendy genres (frameworks/libraries) coming out, there's constantly something to get better at, but with enough time you can be amazing!
