So proud to launch LFWP in Parliament last night. It was great to see so many Labour MPs, councillors, and activists standing in solidarity with West Papua. As @BennyWenda said, this is only the start - the finish line is a Free West Papua.
Papua Merdeka!
Incorrect, but to be expected from an organisation that refuses to mention self-determination in West Papua. The solution to the conflict is the same as it was in 1969: reversing the Act of No Choice and allowing Papuans to decide their own future

'The Indonesian military has been accused of carrying out a wave of brutal extra-judicial killings and torture in West Papua in recent months.'
Important coverage of the Workers for West Papua Campaign from @newint

The Workers for West Papua campaign is calling on workers in Britain to push West Papua’s struggle for liberation from Indonesian occupation up the agenda of the trade union movement.

Today it is exactly sixty-three years since the national flag of West Papua was raised. Since then, the struggle for human rights, national recognition and self determination has continued, through the generations.
The West Papua Council of Churches and the Coordinator for Indigenous Priests expressed their concern and anger at the arrival of 2000 excavators to Merauke to start work on new Nga plantation projects for rice and sugar cane. This has been done without any prior consent or knowledge of the original owners of the land. They reject plans for further exploitation and state that the ‘Land of Papua is not empty’. The land of Papua is owned and managed by indigenous Papuans. #westpapua #merauke
Why is @SadiqKhan welcoming the war criminal Prabowo Subianto?
Prabowo was a Kopassus commander during the Timorese Kraras massacre in September 1983, during which Kopassus troops murdered over 230 men, women, and children. Bloodstained murderer

Anyone in London, please send and share this email to Sadiq Khan urging him to cancel his reception of Prabowo.
It is absurd that our 'pro-human rights' Mayor, so critical of Trump, is happy to welcome this murderous war criminal.

Londoners, please sign this template letter protesting against the visit of Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto this month. He is proven to have committed crimes against humanity and is presently continuing crimes of ecocide and genocide in #WestPapua.

Nearly two years to the day after Bruno Kimko was tortured to death by Indonesian soldiers, Yeremias Magai suffers the same fate at the hands of the police.
Kimko was beaten with sticks and had his genitals tortured, Magai electrocuted and hit with a hammer
4/9/24 Nabire, West Papua
Yeremias Magai (34) was tortured to death at a police station when he was wrongfully arrested.
Ken Boga, who was tortured alongside Magai, was subjected to enforced disappearance and is in unlawful detention awaiting for (unfair) trial.
Concerned about large influx of people to West Papua making indigenous population a minority. Continuing reports of human rights violations. @UNHumanRights visit to West Papua is urgent. Support our statement of concern.

Did you know that the worst environmental destruction on earth today is happening in West Papua? Deforestation projects the size of entire countries for sugarcane and rice. 'You have a choice: accept climate catastrophe or fight for a free West Papua.'

Indonesia continue to deploy more troops to West Papua. This is how Prabowo operates. His Presidency will mean more military occupation, more illegal settlement, more displacement, and more killing of civilians
